How to convert a Prospect to a Lead

Your Prospects from Insightly Marketing can be converted into Leads in Insightly CRM. There are two ways to do this:

  1. From an individual Prospect's Action menu.
  2. By adding a step in a Journey that automatically converts Prospects into Leads.

The Prospect record will not be deleted in either method.

To convert an individual Prospect record into a Lead record:

  1. Open the Prospect record. Click the Actions menu dropdown.

  2. Select Convert to Lead.

  3. Set the Lead's Status.
  4. Set how the Lead owner is selected. It can be assigned to a specific user or it can be chosen with a Lead Assignment Rule.

  5. If you chose Specific CRM User in the previous step, choose a user to own the Lead. If you chose Lead Assignment Rule, choose the rule that will be used to determine the record owner.
  6. Click Save.

To create a conversion step in a Journey:

  1. Open an existing Journey or create a new Journey.
  2. Once you've decided where in the Journey you want Prospects to be converted into Leads, click the plus icon.

  3. Click Add Action.

  4. Scroll down and select Convert to Lead.

  5. Set the Lead's Status.
  6. Set how the Lead owner is selected. It can be assigned to a specific user or it can be chosen with a Lead Assignment Rule.

  7. If you chose Specific CRM User in the previous step, choose a user to own the Lead. If you chose Lead Assignment Rule, choose the rule that will be used to determine the record owner. If the Prospect has been converted to a Lead before this point, the Journey will overwrite the source and owner.
  8. Select when the Action occurs - immediately or after a wait.
