URGENT! Thousands of notification emails from Insightly Notifications regarding Organisation udpated

Hi, after I changed my password today, there are thousands of emails sending to my email regarding the update of organisation. I don't understand what happened and the emails are sent to me NON-STOP. Tried to change the settings under user settings but the emails didn't stop. Please advise what I can do.

  • Hi Nora, thanks!

I still receive emails saying "The following record’s details have been updated". I never received this kind of emails before, may I know how can I turn if off?

Also, I realised from yesterday onwards, the new notes or contacts that I am adding are all shown as "followed" (the star sign is clicked. Is there a way to turn that off too?

    Thanks a lot!

  • Hi Nora,

Just looking through these and I think I may have solved it.

If you open the notification and see who owns it or what organisation it is on insightly. There is a button top Right that says follow or Unfollow. If it says unfollow then it means that you are currently following them. ie notifies you of any changes made to that organisation or contact.

If it says unfollow. Click it,  then the notifications should stop ... I think.

  • Hi Jude!

Thanks for sharing, you're correct. You can also see your Notification options under User Settings.

ACD- Let me know if you have additional questions after reviewing your settings.

  • Hi Nora,

All new notes/contacts/projects or anything I added are now automatically chosen as following. I am unclicking the following button but after a while they are shown as following again.

It never happened before and I just don't understand what happened.

    Can you please help?

  • Is there a way to bulk unfollow records?

  • Hi ACD Wine - You may need to turn off the option to automatically follow "Records I modify" section. While you may not follow records you create, the follow will be turned back on if you comment or modify a record.

Hi there Jessica - there isn't an option to bulk unfollow records. That may be something other users would be interested in seeing too so you may want to add it to the Idea's & Suggestions page.

  • OK the problem here is not the notifications (which as everyone has said can easily be turned off) the problem is that Insightly is creating hundreds of duplicate contacts, which is why we're getting the notifications. This is making our client database a nightmare! Turning off Notifications just means that you are not seeing directly what an unholy mess your database is becoming!

  • Hi Andrea,

YIKES! How are you normally adding your Contacts? Is it via API or web to contact? Can you share an example of the duplicate contacts? And a screenshot of the message you're receiving?

  • Contacts are getting added automatically when we save emails. Insightly doesn't seem to be checking whether that person is already in our database. Other records are being updated every time someone sends an email even if there' no actual information to update. This is less of a problem but spammy.

  • Hi Andrea,

Thanks for following up with that screenshot. I'll forward this to our team and have them do some research. Would you provide us permission to access your account? Can you leave some of the duplicate examples without deleting them so we can gather information?

  • Hi Andrea,

I actually see you're already submitted a support ticket and are working with with Erin. You're in great hands on the road to resolve this mystery.
