Multiple emails

 When merging same person with two different emails. Now one of the emails is erased. It used to just add it automatically.

    When merging 2 records together, the master record will keep any field data that doesn't allow multiple values. A few months ago, there were changes to the default record fields and each record has one email address. Additional email addresses can be added as Custom Fields.

    We have a number of contacts with multiple emails (personal & work email.) We're finding that his is creating multiple profiles for them since the system treats the second email as a new contact. It would be great if Contacts could contain multiple viable emails so things all go to the same place...

  • This has created a problem where there was none. It is clearly much better to have a primary or main email address for a contact, but super important to have secondary addresses so that new contact profiles are not created for people who use different emails, this is very important.   Please forward.

  • Custom fields it is for now, but that will mean a lot of copying and pasting (and multiple windows) whenever one wants to merge these two profiles.

    Besides, once that contact sends an email using the secondary email again, a new contact profile will be created, right?

    This is not a good solution, evidently. Help pls.

  • This also raises several other questions.   When we have one contact that is associated with two different companies, will they need two separate contacts set up?  I ask this because I have several contacts that are one person, but they have different Organizations that they are with.  I know I can set up the different address in the organizations but when I want to send a mailer out, will I need to add one business address to the contacts mailing address and then the 2nd business address to the other address?  What if they have a personal mailing address too that I need to add?  Does the CRM work with custom field email address?  What if I have two contacts set up, same person two different emails. I move over the 2nd email address to the custom field.  Will the activity follow it?

    Yes, you can link a Contact to multiple Organizations. And to hold more additional information like different addresses you can create custom fields. Our Insightly CRM has a custom field for a Multi-line Text Field – A three-line text box that holds up to 8000 characters. Insightly does not have a dedicated custom field for addresses.
