Task gone?

 Hi,

A task seems to be missing from my task list.

When i search for it in the top search bar it appears but when i click on it it takes my to my task list where it is not present (view is all tasks).

When i search for it in the task search nothing turns up.

Where could it be?

    Hey Maikel,

Our team looked into this and we believe your problem was related to a bug where deleted tasks were being shown in elastic search results. This issue has since been resolved. If, when you click on the task, it takes you to the general task page, it means that task had already been deleted.

If you are still seeing these tasks please let us know.

  • Hi Maikel:

Have you checked in your Recycle Bin?

Records that are deleted are held in the Recycle Bin for 30 days. While there, the records will count towards your storage and be included in searches or reports.

You can access your Recycle Bin by going to the right side of each record types list view, (For example your Tasks or Projects) and then you will see a Green link  for "Recycle Bin." To restore items, click the Recycle Bin link > select the box next to the record you'd like to restore > Restore Items.

  • Hi, the recycle bin is empty. Also, i can find the item so its there, i just cant access it when i click on it. If its deleted it wouldn't appear in the search i would say.

  • Hi Maikel:

Can you share you search term and a screenshot of the results so we take a peek?

  • Yeah sure.

I use the search term 'Robotics' and with that the task im looking for shows up in the search results (screenshot) but when i click on that it takes me to my task list where the task is not present.

  • Hi Maikel:

I took a peek and the search bar is taking you to the Task List view when you select the suggested result. I''m going to have this looked into.

However, if you hit enter 2 results are returned and you can access the Task from there.

I'll follow up with you when I have more information regarding the suggested result behavior.

  • Thank you for this.

But...i got this far myself. The problem was (and is) that when i click on the first task that appears in the results, it takes me to the tasklist where the task itself is not present. Therefore, i cant access the task.

btw: the second task that turns up in the results is working fine.

So, if you click in the first task in your screenshot it doenst take you to the task but to the task list (without the task).

Sorry i didnt make that clear the first time.

  • Hi Maikel:

Can you switch over to the New Insightly Experience and let me know if you're seeing the same behavior?

  • Hi, any progress on this? I'm really worried because at this moment i dont know which information (tasks) im missing, i have a business to run so i need to have reliable information. Can you send me a dump (excelfile) of all the information i have stored in Insightly, when i make a dump myself the missing tasks are not included in the file so i can at least work around this as long as its not solved.

  • Im sorry but nothing has changed since i started this topic. I'm sorry but i get the feeling you guys are guessing and i please ask you to search for the problem. I provided an example and a screenshot, i still get the task when i search for it so you must be able to find that specific record???

To be clear: i didn't delete these tasks! I use these tasks to keep track of my work for specific clients!

As the tasks keep appearing in the search results they still are somewhere in your database. I'm sure you can track the specific task i provided as an example so you can see where its at in the system?

So again i please ask you to provide me with a dump of all the tasks as i don't know which tasks are missing. This definately hurts my business!

Your answer suggests i deleted these tasks myself. To be clear: I use Insightly not as a hobby but for my business. I need the information i have stored in Insightly. I really have no reason to delete tasks and go ask where they have gone.

If you would look up the task i provided above you can see i didn't delete that.

  • Here's an addition:

Today i found yet another task with the exact same behaviour. The task has the searchterm 'DPD" in it. Again i can find it in the searchbar and can't access it when i click on it.

This task functioned normally last week. I opened it when the client called me last week.

It is not in the recycle bin (so i didn't delete it).

I really hope this helps and i really hope you will look into this by looking this specific task in your database.

  • Hey Maikel,

Thank you for giving us the updated information. We looked through both your Robotics and DPD tasks and did not see them in your tasks lists. This would only happen if these were deleted. Insightly would never delete the files of a users account.
It is possible that these were deleted or removed by accident?

  • Hi,

That isn't possible because i mark tasks as 'completed' and do not delete them. I rarely delete items in Insightly. Also, if it were deleted it would be in the recycle bin (and restorable) or permanently deleted (after 30 days) and thats both not the case. Most importantly: im 100% sure the 'DPD'- task was there last week, i accessed it then, should it be deleted after last week it would definately be in the recycle bin (and its not).

I get the feeling you're having trouble finding out what has happenend ('it's gone therefore it must be deleted'), thats what i ment by 'you guys are guessing'. Im sure you guys don't delete items on purpose. But okay, lets be practical. Following you it's easy to get the data back because it's still there but marked 'deleted'. If you just please provide me with a list of all tasks that are marked 'deleted' and restore them i at least have my important data back.

    So, to be sure:

    - i'm 100% sure i didn't delete the items

    - the items are in the system (they are not permanently deleted)

    - i can't restore them myself (they are not in the recycle bin)

    - i don't know what other items i lost (i'll let you know if i run to other items like this)

if you say these 2 items are marked 'deleted' please restore all tasks marked 'deleted' and provide me with a list.

    Okay?
