Issue with O365 mail

Hi

We have a customer that's having issues with linking his O365 email with insightly CRM.

We tried adding the email through "other". With smtp.office365.com. It won't authenticate either.

We also tried disabling multifactor authentication temporarly, still wasn't able to authenticate. We also tried setting another password, still didn't work.

Adding an gmail account verified straight away.

  • I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with your email's smtp setup.

If you were able to set up the email and had it verified successfully, sent emails from Insightly, and then received the email from us letting you know that we were unable to verify your email's smtp settings, there are a few things that may have happened:

    • Similar to Insightly, other email providers have their own email limits (how many total emails can be sent per day & how many unique email recipients for example). If you exceed your provider's limits, they may flag your account and your email will be "unverified".
    • If you change your email password, this can also cause your email to be "unverified".
    • Lastly, your email address could be unverified due to some faulty emails for your recipients. Insightly will attempt to send your email(s) 3x. If after the third time, these emails continue to fail, your account may be flagged and your email will be "unverified".

If you continue to see your email being unverified, please reach out to your email provider. They should be able to tell you why your email continues to be unverified so that you can avoid this from happening moving forward.

No matter what caused your email to become "unverified", once you have received this email from us letting you know that we were unable to verify your email's smtp settings, here’s what you’ll need to do to fix this:

    • Log into your Insightly account > go to User Settings > Email Accounts > and select the small trash icon next to that email to remove it.
    • Next, go back to this same page and re-add your e-mail.

    I hope this helps!

  • I'm having exactly the same issue.

O365 just won't authenticate. I have followed your instructions.

I have tested Outlook.com and Gmail. They work fine.
