Additional Permission Level- Editable By

I'm unable to use Insightly throughout our organization because it doesn't have an option to set who can edit contacts and organizations.  Need an additional permission to set who can edit the record in addition to the current visibility permission.

Happy to announce that Advanced Permissions feature which allows to control access and edit rights by user has been rolled out to the Insightly's Professional and Enterprise plans. If you are working with an Insightly sales manager or a customer success manager don't hesitate to request a demo. Thank you for your votes!

  • @Josh you can combine System Permissions with Viewing Permissions to set up your Insightly security scheme. This is how you can manage who can access which records. This Support article explains the different Permission settings: http://support.insight.ly/hc/en-us/articles/204248900-User-permission-levels

I apologize but the permissions are limited.

  • Nora-  Thank you for the information. Unfortunately I need certain users to be able to view the records, but not have the ability to edit them.

  • Hi Josh. As you saw in the article Nora included, the basic rule of thumb in Insightly is, if you can view a record you can edit it. However, there is some good news. After listening to customer feedback, the team understands the need for role-based permissions so they've added it to the product roadmap.

  • Brenda, Nora,

Thanks for adding this to the product roadmap.  This is a very strong need in our organization.  We have some content that needs to stay in its original uploaded state and not be edited by any users, but able to be viewed by all users.

Really looking forward to when this is complete - any idea on the time frame, just to ask?  I know you're all busy, but thought I'd ask.

    Thanks!

  • Hi tom. It certainly doesn't hurt to ask :) The team has been consumed with working on some important solutions ( advanced reporting being one of them) and as we're a cloud-based company, it's difficult for us to commit to concrete timelines. That being said, the community will be the first to know when we have something to share. Thanks for your understanding!

  • I too am really really looking forward to this feature! Data inaccuracy due to user editing/deleting has been an ongoing issue for us. This is going to resolve that and ensure our data is kept accurate and reliable. Thank you!

  • Hi jmullins. This is still something we plan to do. When we are ready to share, you'll hear it announced here first in the community.

  • This is great news-- I don't want to hide information from my team, but I also have to be careful about who has an account to ensure data integrity.

  • I would be very keen for this functionality!

In similar fashion, we're looking for LEADS to be un-deletable. We have some users who shouldn't be able to delete anything in the system - any ideas on that? Is it something you are working on?

  • Wanted to use insightly with new company but people involved indicated without this feature of controlling permissions it's a deal breaker. Any Progress with more granular permission levels?

  • Any update on this? Just realized it wasn't possible and in all likelihood means we will not be going with Insightly.

  • Hello everyone - good news . Edit and delete permissions on all main record types in Insightly is something we are actively building at the moment. Stay tuned for our product updates in the coming month. Thanks.

  • Hi, I saw the video, this is exactly what we need and saw that it is already available. Come one guys, this has to  be available for all the plans. This is as basic as creating users. It is not fair.
