Can't Paste Into Notes

Please help.  I often pull data from multiple sources and paste directly into notes for an opportunity, however lately I can't.  The only way I am able to paste is to create a blank note and then go back and edit the note - at which point, I can paste in to the edited note.

  • Nipun,

I tried the same test in Firefox on Windows 7 and I can not paste. As per the tech note link you shared, this should work. I really wish you guys/gals could figure this out ASAP.

  • Hi  Patrick,

I pay Insightly to work... they don't pay me to work for them.

  • Hi, Folks.  Any development on this?  I can't right-click, copy, paste, or anything like it in Chrome.  I'm using the latest version and I can right-click in this text box, so not sure what's going on.

Any help would be great, thank you.

  • @JM- This issue was resolved a week or so ago. I just tested on Chrome and was not able to replicate. Are you using the latest browser version?

  • Hey, Nora, thank you.  How bizarre...Chrome had updated itself (I use auto-update), however, it required a restart.  I've never had it do that before and, typical, it caused issues!

All fixed now, and I thank you for your quick reply!

  • Hi Clive,

    Thanks for commenting.

Can you provide additional details on what browser you are using and what issues you are seeing?

  • For the record - the stripping out of line breaks and turning lists and sentences into big blobs of characters in text fields throughout the Insightly application is STILL occurring a year later. This has nothing to do with copy/paste and is not browser or OS dependent. It makes Insightly nearly unusable for many purposes.

  • Hi @BuckS,

Since the reports on this thread are specific to using the copy and paste function, can you share your steps and browser details with us?

  • Hi

Is there any news on this please, we paid over $400 for this only yesterday and just discovered we cannot copy and paste notes into tasks which is creating problems for us as a business as we need to update tasks with copies of conversations and emails. Had we known this before, then we probably wouldn't have gone with Insightly.

Please can you supply an update as this is a pretty basic thing that we need.

    Thanks

    Jo

  • Hello

I am using both Safari and Chrome and cannot copy and paste from my email or any other document into Insightly. It simply won't even past the content, only the first two words! This is extremely frustrating as if you want to work quickly, it totally defeats the purpose of having this CRM.

I am still new to this software so if there is something I haven't yet figured out regarding this, I'd very much appreciate someone coming forward with any info :-)

I've tried copying into Notes first to strip out formatting but this didn't work either....

    Thanks

  • I'm not experiencing this problem in Google Canary. Google Canary is the beta or "latest" version of Google Chrome. Download it and use in a pinch when things go awry. It might solve your issue while the folks at insightly figure out the workaround.

  • This issue has been going on for since May 2015 and it looks like we are no closer to a resolution. The Insightly software strips out all the line returns and formatting when pasting.

As comments are fundamental to a CRM I do not know why this has not been fixed. There are examples in the first post in this thread and there is at least one more thread on the same subject.

  • Hi, Google canary is not an option for us as "Canary is designed for developers and early adopters, and can be prone to breakage." (from the Google website). Developers we are not unfortunately. We just want a CRM we can update with notes. Not to much to ask for $400 a year? Thanks for the suggestion though :-)

I've had the following message from insightly support so greatly hoping this fundamental issue is being sorted. Will update this thread when I hear more:

    Hi Jo,

This is a bug we are currently working on and hope to have fixed today. It actually has nothing to do with copy/paste function. The problem is that the comments field is not allowing multi-line entry. As soon as this is fixed we'll make sure to let you know.

    I apologize for the inconvenience.

    Regards,
    Deb K.
