Time tracking

why so many project management apps leave out this basic feature is beyond me. I personally dislike having to integrate a 3rd party application to simply log time for a task.

This is why i left basecamp. Granted i'm a free customer, but I will be first to sign up for a paid account if this feature becomes available.

  • Hello Insightly team,

Did you make any progress on the time tracking feature. It is a must for project management and I personally dislike having to integrate a 3rd party application to simply log time for a task. Not mentioning the extra cost.

Can you update us on this please?

    Many thanks,

    Emmanuel

It was 16 months ago - how does it look like now? :(

  • The lack of progress on the time tracking is problematic. Maybe it's not really a priority?

Insightly team - an update would be appreciated. Paying for yet another piece of saas for this is kinda silly.

  • A time tracking solution is imperative! It's yet another missing feature that makes Insightly more and more expensive for small businesses like us. We have to use a number of third-party apps (which also carry a monthly fee) PLUS Zapier just to make Insightly work for us. I've had Insightly for over 3 years (on and off) -- but only as a SINGLE user in my company. The cost to use Insightly with my entire team is not yet practical for the features that are provided.

We are currently using TimeCamp, however, TimeCamp only shows each user the amount of time that they spent working on the task/project/contact as an individual. There is no quick-and-easy way to figure out how many time was spent as a team.

PLEASE implement some sort of time tracking. This has been a suggested feature that we are all begging for.

  • Hi

Yes, prices per user in Insightly are much higher that it used to be.

System is almost without changes - I use it in a small firm with a few users and did not notice any important improvements implemented last years.

IMHO a firm it too much focused on earning a monay - not making clients happy

  • We use Harvest for time tracking, but I would love to have it on one platform. It is now the end of September 2017 - Time tracking was a request years ago. What is the status of this?

  • In an attempt to *bump* this conversation as a priority, right now our team manually and ineptly tracks time in either Excel, Asana, or Toggl, but would love a data entry field to log time spent (in-time or retroactively) on activities/tasks that we can easily pull and aggregate in project/opportunity reports.

  • Hi everyone

I have first send a request on Insightly help and I got answered to look in this post to vote for the feature. I have tried several options like timesheet and not Harvest using zapier.

Timesheet was integrating better than Harvest, maybe a bit too intrusive in Insightly. I find it difficult to do something easy.

I was first entering comments on a task that was automatically tracking time in this way:

    • I start a task and click on Comment. I save it.
    • I finish a task so I enter details on the next comment and save it.
    • In this way I know when I started and finished the task.

It did not worked very well anyway.

    Any updates from Insightly?

  • Dear Insightly user,

We were Timecamp user but the price of the system was getting too high. Then we found Clockify and we were supprised that the solution is totally free and unllimited for projects and users. Please check it out: https://clockify.me/

I have to say that I'm not affiliate with them neither I get benefit from promoting Clockify. They just have a disturbing strategy in a market were playing where asking a fortune for a simple time tracking solution. I love people that disturb market.

Thank you Clockify you are great. They may come with paying options in the futur like Trello did, but that's fair if they had value the common user.

    Best regards,

    Emmanuel

  • We use TSheets to track billable client time which integrates directly with our QuickBooks accounting platform.

  • Hello Everyone,

We have an Insightly user who found a workaround for time tracking.

Feel free to take a look as it may work for you as well.

You can find the post here

Thanks for everyone's time and patience!

  • How about right now on this? Time management is a huge reason why people use Insightly - allow for time estimates, please.

  • Hi Josh. We don't have any plans in the short term to build a native time tracking solution. However, we have integrated with four 3rd party solutions. You can find them in our Connect to Apps and select Time Tracking in the Filter By drop down.

  • I agree with the original post.  Integrate time tracking.. TimeCamp is what we are using now, but only b/c something isn't built in..

  • Hey Insightly,

So many requests for time tracking, yet this is essential for good marketing planning for projects. The lack of this utility has been the reason that I use Events to track the time spend. It does not calculate but I can have a overview and manually adjust it on a spreadsheet.

It would be logic to use Tasks but the lack of having control when and how long you are working on a task of a project push me to create each time a new Event of the Task manually until the Task is done.

I can imagine this is too complex for team users, so please consider to add this functionality.

I see many use TimeCamp, I'll give it a try.

  • There are a few workflow related automation things that are missing (I think).  Granted, I'm new here, but I've created several pipelines, several reports, and several workflow automation that are really good for what we're doing.

What I haven't been able to see is the number of days an opportunity has been sitting in a certain pipeline stage, or the number of stages since it change stages, and I can't create a custom field to update the date base on the day it was updated.  I've been toying around with this for a few days and nothing seems to give me the results I want.  I thought about creating a task for each stage as an activity set and having the activity set auto complete if the stage was moved from one step to the next.  Or even the other way around - once the activity set is completed then move it to the next stage in the pipeline.  Workflow automation doesn't update any record types besides the one selected.  An opportunity can generate tasks, but not complete them.  Tasks can generate opportunities but not move or complete them.

  • Hey there, I don't know if this has been suggested but HOW ABOUT TIME TRACKING.

    Is year 2136 realistic?

Add BASIC time tracking and BASIC invoicing (like super basic) and you got yourself a paying customer.

  • Hello Felix Remy,

We currently do have this option via Custom Calculated Fields. You can see an overview of this by going over our article: Custom Calculated Fields examples: Time Tracking with Tasks

Just keep in mind you'll need to be on the Enterprise plan. If you like to learn more please let me know and I can have someone reach out.

    Thanks for your patience.
