Date Format Options

I'd love to see Insightly offer date format options at the User Settings Level, in Australia (and Im sure other parts of the world) we use dd/mm/yyyy format however noticed when I imported clients (and related dates of birth) it has posted these dates all incorrectly as it tried to apply mm/dd/yyyy format to the field.

  • Can we please get the dates fixed to have the option there.

International software should be able to able to handle international dates :) This should be an easy fix!

    Vote from me!

  • Guys,  We are new users to Insightly from Australia and I cannot believe that an international platform does not have date format sorted.

The fact it was not mentioned in demos I feel is poor and is enough to consider asking for our money back.

    International date formatting is essential!

  • I can see that this is planned.... whats the ETA for this? as the post is dated back to 2015.... i understand there are work arounds available but  this should really not even be a feature, just as time as date isn't a feature.

  • Hey guys!

At present, the date format is tied to your language settings. English currently defaults to the US mm/dd/yyyy. This is an update we are working on and will reach back out to our users and let them know.

  • Alex, I'm actually one of the unfortunate few dealing with this issue for the past 3 years and as such I have been getting notifications every time someone comments on this ridiculous issue. It's somewhat insulting for you to make an off hand comment as if a simple setting change when it's not. If you scroll through the now 3 pages of comments, there have been several workarounds suggested ranging from changing our settings on Microsoft Excel to match the US format for imports, which doesn't work seamlessly because several of the date fields have changed... or creating a custom text field, or just waiting), it isn't just simply tied to language settings. I think Clair was not out of order to ask after 3 years what the ETA is. To reply that you'er working on it and will let the users know... with no indication of when you would do this, is fairly dismissive and unnecessarily vague. If it's a 'planned' fix, surely there's a plan as to when this would be done?

  • Hi Alex,

Just wondering if you had a ETA for this yet?

    Thank you

  • Hi everyone! While we don't have an ETA for this, the options for a different date format (along with 24 hour time) is still something we really want to work on. We know that this will be a big win for our customers. That's why we are keeping this marked as planned. As soon as we get any updates, I will notify everyone in here. Thank you and please keep upvoting this request!

  • Ok, this is weird. Everyone on here is complaining that date format is set to US and they can't change it. I have the opposite problem completely. My date format is set to international format (dd/mm/yyyy) - and I need it set to US. What the heck?

  • Date displays ok on screens (dd/mm/yy) but not in custom reports

  • Hi Denis,

Just wondering if you had a ETA for this yet?

    Thank you

  • Hi ,

We still don't have an ETA for this yet, but it is something on top of mind. We hope to include this in the next Insightly release. I will keep everyone posted once we get more info.

    Thank you for your patience!

  • I've 'liked' or voted almost every post on the last three pages in an effort to get this international date issue highlighted and onto the Insightly product roadmap as a matter of priority.

I'm feeling embarrassed right now that I've recommended Insightly to a client in the UK when the date format issue has not been rectified in the last three years. It's a feature your community is clearly asking to be taken seriously, to allow accurate reporting. You shouldn't need Excel workarounds in 2018 for a feature that's fundamental to any international CRM.

Please could you fix this issue and ensure date consistency across the whole application, including list views, reports and notifications.

  • I searched 'Insightly Date Format Change' on Google with the expectation that the first link would be to a quick and easy description of how to change this in the settings. I cannot believe that this is not a feature in Insightly!

As far as I'm aware, the American format mm-dd-yyyy is only used in America?! Surely for a product that is used all over the world, this should have been a core feature a LONG time ago!!

    Crazytown.

  • you would think that they would be able to provide an ETA on this but we haven't not been so lucky. International product without international features... 2020 at this rate

  • Please allow for DD/MM/YY formatting of dates - based on location not language or simply a separate setting.

  • Like Vanessa, Clair and others - I want to add to the chorus asking for non-US date formats in custom reports.

Three years of 'planning' for such an obvious and generally-provided option is too long - and sounds like an hollow promise.
Publicise a target, then apologise if you don't meet it, but at least do more than platitudes about hope.
If it's really been on "top of mind" for 4 whole months, why no news, Dennis B.?

March 2018: This is an update we are working on and will reach back out to our users and let them know.
Also March 2018: We know that this will be a big win for our customers. That's why we are keeping this marked as planned. As soon as we get any updates, I will notify everyone in here. Thank you and please keep upvoting this request!

June 2018: "it is something on top of mind. We hope to include this in the next Insightly release. I will keep everyone posted once we get more info.

September 27: Dennis B. says in another thread (on latest version)
"Thanks, Adam! We were focused on delivering on what we call "customer love" in this release."

We're not feeling it, because the words in June have come to nothing. I'm sure you're all nice people working hard at Insightly, but repeated empty assurances do irritate.

Why should this need more votes if you have long-ago decided to do it?!
Sounds like kicking the can down the road - (an overused cliché, I apologise).

  • Hi Dominic.

Thanks for keeping us honest. This is in fact on our list of customer love request we want to deliver, but it just didn't quite make it in the last release. This is why we do not give out an exact date when things will come.

What I do know is that this is getting worked on right now and we hope to include it in our next release. That is the latest update I have for everyone. We'll keep you posted when things change. Thank you.

  • Your prompt response is appreciated. Although 'we hope to include it in our next release' is just June's position repeated, 'getting worked on right now' is better news.
