Copy Opportunity Values across to Project Values

Opportunities have monetary values and can be converted into projects, which do not have monetary values. It would be good if the monetary value would transfer or copy into the project as well.

  • Hacking your own software and marking this feature request (should have been there from day 1 by the way!) as completed is not the best way to encourage people to use Insightly! Please revisit this issue ASAP. Add the value field to the Project record, and copy the value from the Opportunity when we convert it to a Project. They're linked records for goodness sake, so it's not rocket science! And while your're at it, add a second value field to the Project for *actual* value, which we can enter at the end of the project, as we may end up billing for a different amount than was originally agreed with the client when we "won" the opportunity. Thx in advance.

  • I see this as a major problem too- there is no way to transfer the opp value to the contract value at conversion of the opportunity- unless I am missing something.  this could result in changing CRMs

    We appreciate all the feedback we've received on this topic.

    We've now adjusted the status of the post to properly reflect our response and apologize for any confusion.

    Currently, the only workaround would be to create a custom field across both records and use Opportunity Field Mapping to carry the value over to the Project.

    Once we have an update on this feature, we will post an update via this thread.

  • I was quite surprised to find this doesn't exist and even more surprised it needs to be voted on. This is an essential feature as many business models you don't get paid until the project is completed, not the opportunity. Winning the opportunity just means that the real work now starts.

    I was so excited to finally find a CRM that did not seem to have any major components missing...so much for that.

  • I am following this thread as well. Especially now that the Kanban feature is available - having the monetary value transfer to Projects is crucial for a quick glance and accurate forecasting and comparison. Please keep the forum updated and let us know when a solution is available.

  • This is pretty crazy. This thread has been open for years. My company is new to insightly over the last few weeks and every issue we have had come up so far has a thread on here that is aging beyond belief. This particular one is very important to a lot of companies. What do we have to do to get this fixed?

  • This feature will be introduced in the 2018 Q3 release of Insightly later this month. You can map any opportunity field to a project field when you win and convert an opportunity.

  • How about adding pipeline importing/exporting and duplicating so we can reuse extensive pipelines for other purposes, instances or clients? Also add pipeline stages to the API and patch.
