Insert an image to email signature or email body

Hi there,

I would like to insert an image (my company logo) in my signature or in an email I send from Insightly. Is this possible? And if not... WHY???

  • Brian & Nick,

We encourage healthy discussion in our community and understand how frustrations can arise when a feature set you feel is vital to running your business does not exist. However, we ask that if you choose to express yourself here that your conduct remains professional and that you respect this environment and your fellow customers by adhering to our community guidelines. We appreciate your understanding and allowing us to keep our community functioning so that we may continue to keep the lines of communication between us and our customers open.

    Thank you for responding!!

Your customers are unhappy so your solution is to treat us like naughty school children and scold us.

I am leaving insightly, and will no longer contribute to this discussion.

  • And Brenda...I must press the point, that we actually did not break any of your community guidelines. I just read them, and truly nothing was done outside these bounds - we stayed on topic, we helped others with information, and no intimidation nor frustrations were vented onto others.

You may wish to update your policy to include no venting frustrations about Insightly, if that is your real intention. The fact remains that in this internet age, when companies must move quickly if they expect to survive and retain customers, your release schedule is apparently non-existent. Good luck surviving, as I am also moving on.

  • Hi Brian & Nick,

Thank you both for your replies. I understand, and regret to hear that you feel you must leave Insightly. I respect you for offering your honest thoughts. We are here to take the negative feedback along with the good. It is just not healthy if we allow comments to veer from the professional. While it may feel harmless to you and I'm sure the intention was harmless, your comments will have a ripple effect by intimidating others from participating on this thread and on a larger scale, veer us from having a productive conversation with our customers.

I apologize to everyone else that this has turned the focus away from the feature itself. As our Director of Product said in her official comment at top - it's because of your votes and your constructive feedback that we are revisiting the planning of providing support custom image for signature support again - even though it is planned for later this year.

And although it might not be immediately apparent, if you go to the top of Product Feedback and filter by completed you'll see the number of features that have been launched in response to what we've heard from customers since our community was launched. We look forward to even more in 2016.

I wish you both the best.

    Brenda

  • At least it prompted you to actually respond, which is what we were all missing. Nothing compares to the hollow feeling you get from being ignored; something your team needs to learn.

  • Hi Brenda, so, I took a look at your 'completed features' list as you suggested. Do you realize that your most recent completed task was 3 months ago? And the one previous to that another 3 months prior? Even if you've made some additional releases here and there and didn't report them, I think the point is made.

I'm sure many of us here are in the tech industry, myself included. And ask every one of them and they will say if they released features after every 3 months they probably wouldn't survive. As a professional courtesy, I am providing feedback (along with the many other folks both on this thread and others, covering many issues on the site) that you may want to step up your game, for the sake of your company and your customers.

  • It's hilarious how they can "release" a new reporting option (well that's not difficult as they already hold the data), yet that refuse point blank to add an image to email templates/signature and make this issue just go away. I don't think they get it!?

Yes, in the software industry too - these guys would get chewed up if they were my competition, lucky for them, the self proclaimed "no 1 CRM" isn't and they can continue to pretend they have a road map!

  • Brian, you've made a good point. We will be taking your suggestion regarding creating an area for product updates within the Community. It is important for us to show even small requests are being fulfilled even though these larger ones are the only ones that get the visibility.

  • Yes! Logo please! Even if it's an option to add a link from another source, which will embed the image - that would be okay with me too.

  • Very Very Very disappointed that we cannot insert our logo into our signature, then to find out we have to integrate with Mail Chimp, another paid service. . . . I sense a Ripp Off or a conspiracy between Mail Chimp and Insightly.  Sure wish we knew this before we got in too deep.

As for the Spam thing written above, give me a break! Or let me have the option to insert or not insert my logo.

Very disappointed, this is obviously a way to leach more money out of us.

  • Hi Mathew:

I'm glad to see that you've been taking advantage of our email templates, added last year. We are looking into a solution for logos and signatures. We offer the Mailchimp integration as an option to our users. This integration is part of all paid plans and Mailchimp has both paid and free services available.

We will be sure to let everyone when there's more information to share.

  • Hi

I have quite a few templates set up and I would like to be able to copy and paste images into the body of my emails - giving directions, examples etc. This would be a great additional feature.

  • Insightly email of no use without branded emails in this day and age

  • Sure is. I never used it after I signed up and found that I couldn't add an image. Using a better, less arrogant company now.

  • You have most certainly set the wrong expectation, but you also misunderstand the problem. We agree MailChimp or Constant Contact are used for large scale campaigns. However, when even sending emails 2-3 at a time, many of us are not satisfied with simple text and Windows 95 formatting capabilities. We would like to be able to send out a professional looking, email that includes the capabilities of HTML and inserted images. It’s all about image. Poorly formatted emails, or emails with no design consideration whatsoever present poorly to clients. We are a marketing firm, and we need to look like one every time we touch our clients. Your decision to wait another year is a problem, one that will most likely result in my seeking a different crm solution altogether. You need to start listening. The fact that you had to publish an Official Comment is proof enough that you know you need to do this—sadly telling us it’s a year out is the wrong answer.

  • Micah this ins't true, well for me anyway. I have no option for "Email Signature" in my User Settings.

Additionally in the templates section (within Emails), there is not <> button,  meaning you cant add html.

Is there a paid feature or perhaps not fully rolled out?

  • Hi Imtiaz,

We will soon be opening up email signature to all users. At this time it is only a paid user feature.

  • Do you know when that will be ? This was a make or break for me and I have since moved my CRM to another vendor. If this is available I'd move back to insightly.

  • That's good news but only half the story. I need to be able to add images to the body of my email. For people selling physical products, there's really no point sending an email to someone if I can't send photos of my product.

Is it possible to include images (not attachments) within the body of the email?

  • Hi Ljbarta,

You can insert an HTML tag and URL to display a picture at the bottom of your emails. You can read more about it under our article: Adding a hosted image to your custom email signature.

  • I've said it several times in this thread - an image (logo) in the signature doesn't solve my problem. I need a product image embedded near the top of the email so that it's visible as the recipient opens the email.

Again, if you're selling a physical product, the person needs to read just a sentence or two and then see a photo of the product. I can't expect them to scroll down to the signature to see what I'm talking about.

I've reached the end of my rope. I'm cancelling my account. I've been following this thread for 9 months and it's a waste of time.

  • Hi ljbarta:

Our apologies that while we have added the ability to add an image to your signature, we are not able to accommodate your exact request. We're not sure if you need to include a photo of your product so you can sell to clients but we've seen other users use Mailchimp or another marketing platform as their answer to this. Especially since our email templates were designed as a way to send personal follow ups. Best of luck to you in the future.

  • I don't want to use a snazzy Mailchimp template to send emails to, for example, a toy store owner who might want to carry my toys. I'm trying to establish a relationship with them, so I don't want an email that looks like it's going to hundreds of people. I want to meet them, and talk to them. But in order for them to get an idea of my product in the first few seconds of opening the email, there has to be a product photo. I'm not sure why you're arguing against me. Am I the only one with this issue? Anyway, I already canceled my account.

  • I'm so sorry ljbarta, I didn't mean for my suggestion to upset you. I was hoping I could offer something since our emails couldn't meet your needs. It's unfortunate you had to cancel your account, we're sorry to see you go.

  • Any update on when we'll be able to paste images into an email? Work around for now is to not use a templated email but click the email address in contact info and open a separate gmail tab, which has all the standard gmail features of course.

Confused though why just pasting an image into an email is a hard feature to add? Since you integrate with gmail, the expectation was there would be the same functionality and then more (templated email etc), not less. Is it an issue with gmail's api's? Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

  • Hey guys, are you aware that the same functionality of adding an image to your sig using the image src tag also works in your email editor? You can't see the html or edit it (no html icon in email editor) but it works.
