Insert an image to email signature or email body

Hi there,

I would like to insert an image (my company logo) in my signature or in an email I send from Insightly. Is this possible? And if not... WHY???

Dear customers, on behalf of the Insightly product team, first: thank you for your feedback. It pains me as your product manager to read that the Email feature fell short of your expectations in the ability to support your branding. Second: for those of you, who were hoping to use our email templates as a substitute of marketing campaigns tools (which would have supported custom designs of the email templates, HTML, imagery, and more) - I'm afraid we might have set the wrong expectation. The intent of email templates was to save you time in your customer outreach and follow-up, which warranted the approach to feature development that we took. I acknowledge that we've missed the need to support your branding/logo requirement.

With that said, here is what we plan to do: a) we are going to revamp and improve Insightly's integration with MailChimp in the first half of 2016 for those looking for a better connection between a CRM and their marketing automation system b) we were already planning to provide support custom image for signature support later in the year, but will revisit this topic again in our planning, given the # of votes for this feature c) in the long term - which is likely beyond 2016 - we intend to support campaigns and marketing templates with full HTML support.

Finally, wanted to make sure you know, we've recently shipped an ability to insert more fields (including custom fields) in your Email Templates, which was another popular request for Emails: http://support.insight.ly/hc/en-us/community/posts/202834294-Make-all-fields-placeholders-in-mass-email

Thank you again for your candor, keep the votes and comments coming.

  • I'm having trouble getting my brain around this.

    • The email template is an html document.
    • Html documents support embedded images.
    • Ergo, the email template supports embedded images.

If it's a question as to where or how to store the image, how about the way my company logo is currently stored?  Frankly,I'd far rather be able to have my customers see my company logo on correspondence than for me to look at it every day in my Insightly desktop.

I know what my company logo looks like. It's my customers I want to remind.

  • 100% agree, Rick. The email template functionality really need to be expanded.

  • I agree with all the above.

I'm really excited about the email functionality but I am unhappy about leaving our company branding out of correspondence with clients if we use Insightly to send emails.

It's the 101 of marketing and emailing. Please look at this functionality asap.

  • I would also like to request the ability to insert a company logo in the signature line. I would also like to be able to insert a photo directly into the email.

I am also with everyone else on the logo for the signature - I am not sending emails from Insightly because of this - I go to gmail - that simple fix would simplify my workflow process and seems like a no brainer!

  • Really an inconvenient. This is a "must" for a CRM that wants to be an active partner in business. Please, consider it as a priority.

  • @Nora D - Thanks Nora, I also think it's a great request. I am also surprised that it's not possible to insert a company logo in the email signature in a CRM system that is made for companies...

  • Just echoing Brian's sentiments, its disappointing to get so far into Insightly only to be road blocked with the lack of such a simple feature. Please fix and restore my sanity! :)

  • I agree with you, Derrin. I'm the CEO of a tech company (app dev), so I'm very familiar with the "can't please everyone" mentality, but, as you say, we're deep into Insightly now, and I'm really, really disappointed at how half-baked the system is.

When you're doing a trial, you really can only go so deep into it. Two weeks is too long. By just a couple days, you've already invested a lot of time and energy trying it out. On the surface, it looks great. But things like the email composer and what I discovered the other day: You can't do reminders on an Event! I had so many events entered that I needed an email to remind me about. I had to pay an assistant to hand-transfer all of those to Tasks instead. I would have been better off just using my Gmail calendar!

And don't get me started on reoccurring events!

    Basic stuff, Insightly!

    Really disappointed.

  • If you have a physical product, you MUST show them a photo in the email.  They will take 1 second to look if you're lucky and if there isn't a photo to catch their attention, they will move on.

I've also stopped sending emails via Insightly because of this issue.

  • Agree with all the above.

We too are not sending emails from within Insightly due to this simple oversight.

A company logo within an email signature is a must for us and the ability to include a product image within the body of an email would be very useful.

Ironic how the option to include an image within a feedback message is available within these Insightly Support pages but not to emails sent.

  • Is this to be implemented and if so, when is it likely to occur? This is a game changer for our organisation, and I now have team members seeking alternative solutions. And when your team loses faith in the solution... well you know it is terminal.

  • Quote Lyla T.: 'this is on our road map however, we do not have a date for release.'

I live in the Netherlands. When I was searching for a CRM system I didn't choose a dutch company because I had the illusion that a big company like Insightly had more options and would be better and quicker in development than a small dutch company.

    Boy was I wrong!

My initial question is almost 4 months ago. How many people need to fill in the request and vote to implement a BASIC and for most companies NECESSARY function?

I took a paid account so I could use more email templates. Bummer, now I send all my emails from my email account and use TextExpander to fill in the text including pictures.

Are you guys and galls from Insightly looking for an opportunity to have happy (paying) customers? Here I have a tip (free of charge):

    Fix the basic needs!

And that does not mean put it on a road map that lies there for an undefined time

  • As a follow-up to my previous comment, and some of these comments, we have discovered that some email servers will reject our emails that contain a logo. We are using google aps for business as email server, and have spf and dkim set up properly. In corresponding with google support on this it appears that some email servers view the logo as spam content and either reject the email or send it to their recipients spam folder. I don't know if there are other methods for inserting a logo into the email footer that differs from the way Google aps does it, however I thought it worth pointing out as it might have some bearing as to why Insightly has not implemented this feature yet.

  • I agree!

It's very important to be able to display our company logo.

  • I've been using the free version of insightly now for one company with great results (but using outlook email with logo for all emails sent).  Given my great experience with Insightly previously, I am incredibly shocked that something as basic as adding a logo to an email can't be done!

I have just upgraded the plan with insightly with a different company, thinking we could run professional email campaigns from this CRM.  Not professional without a logo!

This conversation has been happening here for too long.  When will this be rectified?

  • Your email templates are a nice but we are unable to use because of the inability to insert our logo in the signature.

From the comments in this thread, it appears I am not alone in regards to needing a logo in the signature.

Please include this feature in order for more of your users to take advantage of the email templates.

  • Insightly tech support: please listen to this feedback! I have already up-voted this topic since I too am affected by the lack of proper branding in your email functionality. But am now moved by sheer frustration to include yet another strongly worded comment.

In my opinion (and clearly not just my own), you may as well not even have bothered developing this feature without the ability to add a proper and complete email signature, including a logo image. I refuse to present myself in such a poor and inconsistent fashion to my email receivers - it is simply unprofessional.

And now consider this: because I don't use your email functionality, the only option I have for capturing emails in your system is to use my email client (I use Gmail and Google Apps) and either bcc: myself with my Insightly bcc address or use the browser plugin that provides a nifty button to send the email and automatically add the recipient and message into Insightly. Sounds like a decent solution, right? WRONG. You see, both of these methods add the email recipient as a CONTACT...and since many of my emails are to LEADS I am now completely diluting and obscuring my all-important contact list with a bunch of potentially crap data. The entire point of separating leads from contacts is defeated!

You are and will lose customers because of this, myself included. I am a paying member and am now looking for a new solution. For your own sake, make this a priority and stop delaying this functionality.

  • Helloooo,

is there anybody on the other side reading all of these posts??? Are you at Insightly going to do something about this anytime soon?

please show some sort of a sign of life. As you can see there's a few of us out here desperately waiting for a fix.

    regards,

    Boris

  • Brian & Nick,

We encourage healthy discussion in our community and understand how frustrations can arise when a feature set you feel is vital to running your business does not exist. However, we ask that if you choose to express yourself here that your conduct remains professional and that you respect this environment and your fellow customers by adhering to our community guidelines. We appreciate your understanding and allowing us to keep our community functioning so that we may continue to keep the lines of communication between us and our customers open.

  • And Brenda...I must press the point, that we actually did not break any of your community guidelines. I just read them, and truly nothing was done outside these bounds - we stayed on topic, we helped others with information, and no intimidation nor frustrations were vented onto others.

You may wish to update your policy to include no venting frustrations about Insightly, if that is your real intention. The fact remains that in this internet age, when companies must move quickly if they expect to survive and retain customers, your release schedule is apparently non-existent. Good luck surviving, as I am also moving on.

  • Hi Brian & Nick,

Thank you both for your replies. I understand, and regret to hear that you feel you must leave Insightly. I respect you for offering your honest thoughts. We are here to take the negative feedback along with the good. It is just not healthy if we allow comments to veer from the professional. While it may feel harmless to you and I'm sure the intention was harmless, your comments will have a ripple effect by intimidating others from participating on this thread and on a larger scale, veer us from having a productive conversation with our customers.

I apologize to everyone else that this has turned the focus away from the feature itself. As our Director of Product said in her official comment at top - it's because of your votes and your constructive feedback that we are revisiting the planning of providing support custom image for signature support again - even though it is planned for later this year.

And although it might not be immediately apparent, if you go to the top of Product Feedback and filter by completed you'll see the number of features that have been launched in response to what we've heard from customers since our community was launched. We look forward to even more in 2016.

I wish you both the best.

    Brenda

  • It's hilarious how they can "release" a new reporting option (well that's not difficult as they already hold the data), yet that refuse point blank to add an image to email templates/signature and make this issue just go away. I don't think they get it!?

Yes, in the software industry too - these guys would get chewed up if they were my competition, lucky for them, the self proclaimed "no 1 CRM" isn't and they can continue to pretend they have a road map!

  • Brian, you've made a good point. We will be taking your suggestion regarding creating an area for product updates within the Community. It is important for us to show even small requests are being fulfilled even though these larger ones are the only ones that get the visibility.

  • Yes! Logo please! Even if it's an option to add a link from another source, which will embed the image - that would be okay with me too.

  • Very Very Very disappointed that we cannot insert our logo into our signature, then to find out we have to integrate with Mail Chimp, another paid service. . . . I sense a Ripp Off or a conspiracy between Mail Chimp and Insightly.  Sure wish we knew this before we got in too deep.

As for the Spam thing written above, give me a break! Or let me have the option to insert or not insert my logo.

Very disappointed, this is obviously a way to leach more money out of us.
