Social media links
I've imported a csv file which has worked fine except that very few social media links are showing up for my contacts, and no profile photos are showing. At the moment I'm just on the 14 day trial - are these features available on the trial?

Hi Marion,
When a contact is added, we'll look at the contact's email address to see if there's any social media associated with it. If the email address isn't the one your contact uses for social, then no social media links will be included. For the picture, we look first at LinkedIn to see if there's an image and then we look at Twitter. And if there is an image, you'll be able to see it matter what plan you're on. Hope that helps!
These things appeared on my previous CRM software, so why not on Insightly? They don't even appear on my own profile. There are no Facebook links appearing at all and I can't find any way to manually add a Facebook link to a contact, only LinkedIn or Twitter.
my facebook profile is wrong and i can not find a way to fix it
@Marion- Insightly doesn't have a designated field for Facebook as it does for Twitter/LinkedIn. This is due to several businesses not wanting to have a link with Facebook available for their employees. users. contacts. But there's a workaround! You can simply copy the Facebook user url link within the same field as the LinkedIn/Twitter field for it to show within the record.
@Trip- Sorry you're having trouble, is it your profile photo or your link? If its the photo you can update it by going to your Contacts list > select your name > click on Actions > from within the drop-down select Change Contact Image > choose a file, select the file > click on Save New Image. If its the link that is incorrect you will need to remove your email address from your record in order to block the link. It's something we're working on to verify what is causing that issue. :(
Nora, I'm sure there are more Insightly customers who would like the option to add social media links for more platforms than just Twitter and LinkedIn. I'm constantly adding Facebook URLs to my contacts, but I have to add them in as a "website" or "url" which is clumsy and makes it look cluttered.
I would like to be given the option to turn on or off the manual addition of profiles on other social media platforms like Facebook, Pinterest, Flickr, etc.
@James - Thank you for your feedback!
I agree with James. It would be great to give more control to your customers. if other companies are concerned with accounts being "available for their employees. users. contacts." than make it an admin feature. Turn it on off like James says.
The way Insightly is populating social data seems a little archaic to me.
We think the same, would be very helpful more control with the other social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram etc
Thanks for sharing Carlos!
Is there a trick to importing social media info? For example, I have a spreadsheet of contacts and organizations with associated twitter handles, but I can't find a way to import/map them along with everything else to the social media fields in Insightly.
Thank you,
N
Hi Nathan,
You can't import the information into the social media field. You'll have to manually enter the information. What you can do is create a Custom Field with a URL option and import your data in that manner.
For facebook not to be included in social media seems odd. Everyone has a facebook, and it'd be helpful to have this included in the Customer/Organization profile. I understand you can add it as a LinkedIn or Twitter account, but that's funky. Just my two cents.
Hi Jesse,
Thanks for stopping by to add your feedback. Sally, who is another Insightly customer, posted Feature request - add all options for social media. If you'd like, you can show your support for this feature by voting it up (just click the up caret next to the post title). Let us know if you have any questions. Thanks!
Good Afternoon, similar to other members above I have imported a list of contacts and none of them have social media links attached which is nearly impossible. This is the biggest criteria for my new CRM. What am I missing? - Cheers
Hi Ed,
Insightly uses a third party to detect a social media connection when a contact is added to Insightly. We'll look at the contact's email address to see if there's any social media associated with it. If the email address isn't the one your contact uses for social, then no social media links will be included.
Please note the LinkedIn account will need to be public to link up.
Ideally we would like all social media accounts to link up but this isn't the case at the moment. The best way to make sure your Contacts have social media links is to manually add them to each contact. As mentioned above you can add a Custom Field and add the Url for each Contact.
Nora, thanks for the response. I will take that into consideration. I appreciate the quick answer
Hi Nora,
recently my colleague, who's been testing Insightly, showed me the LinkedIn profile that has been automatically associated with him in his social profiles. And it wasn't his profile. I think there might be a problem with the algorithm that your third party company uses.
As it seems, if someone's name is for example John Lock, and he is signed in LinkedIn with the email address john.lock@gmail.com, the algo then looks for the most probable person named John Lock, regardless of what email he uses to log in into LinkedIn. And so it is possible that you get the profile of another John Lock that signs in using the email j.lock@yahoo.com.
I think this can be omitted very easy if you can change the focus of the algo from the name to the actual email address used to log in into LinkedIn.
And while I'm still here, why is it not possible to delete the wrongly added LinkedIn account anymore? This should be fairly easy option to implement, as it can create an unnecessary confusion.
Hi Daniel:
Thanks for the additional feedback on this and as Nora mentioned, we are working with our third party service used to improve their process for finding social media links.
There isn't a way to delete the wrongly added profile but, there is the option to turn Social Profiles off in your System Settings.
We would like the option for all social media profiles as well. Also there needs to be away to correct the wrongly associated profiles easily.
We're just starting out with Insightly. It is a very strange idea for me to manually add all facebook URL-s.
I want just to be able to log into facebook and update the URL-s of all the contacts that are present in Insightly.
Today Facebook is a communication tool for professionals and not just a leisure time thing.
We need the facebook links of people in order for our colleagues to reach them.
Hi Gabor:
You may want to check to see if Facebook import has been added to the Ideas & Suggestions page and add your vote. If not, you can start a new thread :)
There has also been an update to this feature! You can now manually update and correct any social profiles that may have been associated to your Contacts incorrectly. Check out our article on managing social media links for details on this.
What would be better for me would be that when I manually add a Linkedin (or other) profile Insightly goes and grabs the profile photo. Why not allow the storing of LinkedIn credentials as well so you can go and get private profile photos.
Hi Ian:
The primary area our team looks at when deciding what ideas from our users to consider next is our Ideas & Suggestions page. Another user has already requested the option to Add LinkedIn integration to Insightly Mobile App, if you'd like to add your vote there.
Waste of time. Hundreds of people have requested and voted for automatic social media links and nobody has taken any notice!
We're really sorry to hear this Marion. We do try our best but resources and time dictate what ideas can be implemented. Even if you don't hear from us directly, please know your thoughts and votes are seen by different teams at Insightly.
I've added a request to the Ideas & Suggestions page: https://support.insight.ly/hc/en-us/community/posts/115005668647-LinkedIn-deep-integration
hey guys, we have recently made a nice integration between Insightly and LinkedIn, you can check it out here.
https://linkmatch.net/insightly/
LinkMatch allows you to match, save and update LinkedIn profiles to your Insightly.
Would love to hear what you think about it!
