Value of Opportunities Report

Is it possible to change the Value of Opportunities report so that it uses the *actual* close date rather than the forecast close date. The forecast date is only a forecast after all, and doesn't represent what's actually happened. Maybe add an option to the report?

  • I have been a user of Insightly for 2 years and love it. I have come from MS CRM and Seibel. Insightly always wins on 'easy of integration' but its reporting I have always found not strong. Pie graphs where a bar graph should be, no line graphs. Overall this part of the tool should be reviewed

  • We are considering leaving insightly for this one issue, we'd love to be able to run reports against actual close date.

  • I don't know if the weakness of the reporting module males our relationship terminal, but I have been asking for 2 years and have seen zero attention or dialog or improvement in reporting during that period. It would help me to understand where they are headed in their roadmap as it relates to reporting. I would think at a minimum the acknowledgement of needed investment OR a partnership (API integration) with a reporting engine would help. Company's use CRM reports tell the 'sales story' to executives. when it is an export and spreadsheet exercise its clear the CRM is under invested in its reporting and THAT can cause companies to change platforms.

  • I wholeheartedly agree that CRM reporting is vital for the executive suite. If Insightly could at least expose it's data as a source for a third party tool such as PowerQuery, that would be extremely useful to us. Without it, producing such reports is a time consuming manual process which ultimately adds markedly to the TCO.

  • Hi,

We hear you!. Our engineering team is working on an updated and revamped "Advanced Reporting" feature. We are hoping to release is soon ( for beta ) and it will provide a much richer level of flexibility and depth to our reporting capabilities. Stay tuned!

  • Finally some good news on the reporting issue... Honestly Gent's I've started looking for something else to migrate to as the lack of reporting and analytics is a huge issue for me.

Hopefully your advanced reporting will allow us to pull pipeline reporting on projects as we can on opportunities That is a huge issue.  In a project based workflow our ability to manage our projects in progress is key to our business.

The reason that the new lead function is worthless to me is the inability to do any tracking or reporting.  Yes we can use filters but I need to be able to generate a report easily and quickly on when leads came in, where they are in the lead pipeline ect...

I'll await this new advanced reporting feature but more information on what is coming would be very helpful to keep me onboard.  I don't want to leave insightly but I can't keep doing downloading of data and then dumping it into excel just to analyze it.

  • Very interested in getting involved in beta as well for advanced reporting.  Definitely need more customization features on reporting & at the minimum flexibility to amend existing reports.

  • On the reporting front, it would be wonderful if there was some type of forecasting tool.

Perhaps I'm missing it, but if I am, it should probably be more obvious.

I enter opportunities with values & probabilities. There should be a report that projects future revenue based on the value & probability of opportunities.

Can you point me to where that is or add it to the development plan. Should be an essential part of any CRM.

  • @Craig- Our current reports do not have the option to project future revenue but its a great suggestion for our Advanced Reports.

  • Thanks Nora.

If that feature made it on the dev list, what do you think would be the time frame for executing?

  • @Craig- As Raju mentioned above he anticipates Advanced Report being available in Beta by Q3 of 2015. Once beta is open you can choose to participate and provide suggestions and feedback such as a revenue option.

  • Raju mentioned early Q3.  Isn't it already mid Q3?  My trial is expired and I'm wrestling with the decision of sign up or abandon and keep searching.  Reporting improvements would be a game changer.

  • Hi Dave. Because this is such a massive undertaking (you'll understand when you see it) it's taking the team a bit longer than anticipated. We'll make a formal announcement when this is ready to be rolled out. We appreciate your patience!

  • @Dave, @Neil

Sorry for the delay in releasing this feature to Beta.  It has been a massive undertaking, and it took longer than our original estimates. Having said that, we are literally, just a few days away from releasing it (beta).

  • Please add me to BETA.

Am on the verge of having to try to write a whole API / external reporting DB..... and would love to not have to.

and +1 for ..... at least expose it's data as a source for a third party tool.....

... and custom filters, they are (a kind of a clunky but all we have) way of custom reporting.... filter/select the data and then view or export. So.... can we please pretty please, with cherries on top be able to edit them. Please.

  • Raju - I was very close to migrating across to a competitor when I spotted this post. Like everyone else here I absolutely need reporting functionality that allows me to produce and customize reports - for me it needs be contact and organisation reports, and ideally those based on tags.  Is the planned 'advanced reporting functionality' going to include reports outside of 'opportunities'?

I'd appreciate an idea of what the broad scope of the new reporting functionality will include. And please add me to the beta testing as I'd be very happy to evaluate and make immediate use.

    Thank you
