Customisable homepage

It would be great to be able to have a homepage with the customisable widgets on it, so I can see the data that's important to me all on one page (like the calendar showing my milestones, the top 5 tasks for the day, opportunities closing this week etc). Recent activity could be one of these widgets.

At the moment, if I want an overview of everything that I need to deal with that day, I have to click through onto each section of the software. It would be great to get an overview of the key things in each section in one place.

  • Plus One for me. The main page offers no real value to me. But quickly displaying due tasks / projects, recent emails would be great. Having this in a "widget" style would offer max flexibility to anyone using this page.

  • Yes, would like to be able to choose what tab I open to besides the stream/home page. I'd like to open right to Projects.

  • I use tasks as my "go to" page. Since I assign a task for each lead, prospect, opportunity (quoted or quote pending), scanning tasks revels all pending activity. I sort these tasks with custom categories such as 

    • 1 - Lead
    • 2 - Prospect
    • 3 - New Opportunity
    • 4 - Proposal Due
    • 5 - Proposal Issued
    • 6 - Follow-up
    • 7 - To-Do
    • 8 - Trip to Customer
    • 9 - Customer Visit

    I can see at a glance who to call, which quotes to chase etc.Linking contacts, organizations, opportunities etc to tasks helps you navigate quickly. Task comments record all activity for each task as it's opportunity moves through its sales cycle.

    One of the nice things I see with leads, now that unpaid users like me can use them, is that if you assign a task when you convert the lead then the contact, org and opp are all automatically linked.

    An initial task would be associated with the lead and if it gets converted that task gets completed and the new task tracks the opportunity. That's my method.

  • Yes, please - a user-customizable dashboard is a huge need!  Each different job function in our group has different things they want to see and track on a daily basis, so what works for a road warrior is going to be different that what works for inside sales, product development, or marketing.

  • Yes this is desperately needed. It is the most glaring omission compared to other CRM solutions.

    The current home page offers zero value. It does no good to me to see that the last 5 things I did was change an email address, update spelling, add a phone number and create a new contact. 

    Take a look at ZOHO or Capsule or Pipedrive to give you guys an idea of different ways a homepage can be much more useful.

  • I'm having a hard time getting my team to use Insightly, I think this feature would go a long way. What I really need is the ability to add custom text to the homepage. I'd like Insightly to be a place where my team regularly goes, and we've integrated mapping via the API, it would be so much more seamless if they could link to the map from within Insightly.

  • I keep checking back to see if there has been any valuable input from Insightly reps on this topic but there never is.  A useful home page seems like a no-brainer and the lack of one is one of the three items that is keeping me from signing up.

    Look at ANY OTHER CRM - they all have a more informative home page.

    Thanks for letting us know. What kind of timeline does Insightly have in mind in launching the homepage? Are there any betas being launched, so that we may play a role in providing customer feedback to improve the experience for later users? It would be of immense added value if it were launched in the near future, as it is a big omission.

    Having a customisable homepage would be a hit in the ballpark for Insightly and would add to the already pleasant user experience. A quick glance at of optional widgets on a dashboard to have a better indication of;

    tasks

    geographical locations of opportunities

    stages and number of opportunities in various phases of the pipeline

    % of opportunities lost and won

    a pie chart of the different categories and customer profiles

    number of incoming new opportunities over time

    opportunities that have not been contact in 3 months

     

    would save time and allow the user to jump right in. Simply said, put the report section on the dashboard in live time and make it interactive so that the user can click that opportunity/contact/task to dive in.  Time is a valuable and rummaging through Insightly is to qoute a famous meme; aint nobody got time for that.

    Having this option would remove our drive to seek other CRM solutions outside of Insightly. Please let us know and I look forward to your quick reply.

  • Insightly's lack of a user-customizable dashboard--or at least a worthwhile dashboard--is a huge problem for our team as well. I'm having a great deal of trouble getting key team member to adopt the program because it is hard for them to see the information they need in a user-friendly format. Now, a key team member is asking that we switch to another software. So, yeah, plus one for us on this issue and I'm disappointed to learn it's not on your immediate road map.

  • Yeah same here - new to Insightly but not to CRM and this is going to be a deal-breaker for me. Won't be subscribing now I have seen this thread until I can at the least simply replace the activity feed with something more useful to the sales guys.. :|

  • customize LOTS of things!! As I said in a different post, allow users to have links into and from the app, so it can be a better part of an integrated experience! Establish a mechanism to link into a particular section of the app, given a URL, and to link from a particular section of the app, maintaining context. If I want to jump to a time entry system, allow me to do so from a task, and provide a means by which that task's context can be established in that time entry system, and vice versa.

  • Having a customizable home page would be amazing.

    We have three users on the basic plan and I must be honest - I spent a few hours today looking at other similarly-priced CRMs with the thought of switching to another provider because (1) we really could benefit from a customizable dashboard and (2) I dislike the Insightly user interface. It is in need of an update.

    I'm currently testing out free accounts with both Agile CRM and vtiger and the thought of switching over before I add any more users to Insightly is tempting. Agile CRM is also $15/user/mo and vtiger is only $12/user/mo. Both have customizable dashboards, modern user interfaces, and most if not all of Insightly's features + extra integrations.

    A "real" dashboard would be great. 

    See Zoho CRM as an example, which is offering a dashboard with customization options.

    Or see http://www.cyfe.com/  who provide this type of dashboards (maybe it can be incorporate it into insightly?)

  • A customizable Dashboard would be HUGELY helpful! I do a lot of software testing and workflow solutions consulting for other small businesses, and this feature would really put Insightly at the head of the class! I envision having drag and drop "module" boxes much like the Windows 8/10 tiles that you can organize and size to meet your needs, with each one displaying some part of one's data within Insightly. Even adding one that's a blank iframe capable (may be some newer, better format, I'm only techy enough to be dangerous!) module so people could do other things with it would be awesome. Kind of like what igoogle used to offer?
