Sorting Leads

Is there really no way of sorting a List, other than by the default? I would like to sort my leads by Organization name, but there is not a way to do so?

I know, export them to Excel. But that's a pain when I just want to look at the list.

  • Hi Lyla,

Maybe the Insightly Team Members can have a +5 vote or separate list where they have 'irate' customers requesting basic features like a simple sorting function by leads.

Why there is only 18 votes on this request is a mystery given this is a basic need and turning people away.

  • I too just discovered the "no-sort" option, thankfully Im not too deep into this product as we just started kicking the tires so to speak, and have not yet committed to the the full package.

The one recurring theme of all of the responses to everyones concern here (Why No Sort for Leads) is the condescending pandering responses by the Insightly team.

Especially cringed at Lyla T. stating to Ronald “Sorry to hear you feel this way. We realize Insightly may not be the right fit for you but hope you'll keep us in mind as things are always changing. The best of luck to you on your journey.”

    Wow!  Really?

Im going to ask my team to find another solution, because clearly “Insightly” is just too good for us.

  • I too did not realize this basic functionality was missing. Unfortunately, I'd have found out if I'd have had the time to really dive into the free trial at the beginning, but my CEO was rushing the process. He's never used a CRM before, but had flirtations with Salesforce in the past. My CRM experience on the other hand includes Salesforce, GoldMine, Infront, and Streak. I vetted Insightly against HubSpot, Buddy, and I think one other but I can't recall which one. I also tried out HubSpot's free CRM and we would have gone with them except for the fact that their Outlook plug-in was only built for Windows and not for Mac OS. Sorry, but in this day and age I'm not going to copy and paste my email communications into a CRM. Anyhow, that's how we ended up selecting Insightly at my current organization.

However, I am not only surprised, (and yet not surprised given the other issues I've come across and have submitted support tickets for that seem to be going nowhere), but also very disappointed that after a year and a half the platform still doesn't offer this basic feature, requested, voted on, and absolutely needed. I need a crying emoji here.

  • Insightly is build for contact management and sales BUT you cant even see if you might accidentally call a lead 2 times because the organization is listed twice by sorting leads by organization?  This is piss poor product design.

  • I mean what would the purpose be in a corporate environment to sort leads by name??? Your looking for businesses and the individual at the business is an unknown contact you are reaching out to.

  • My level of frustration with this coupled with the years they have considered fixing this bug is making me leave this program I am afraid

  • I hear ya, Charlie. It would be best if organizations were objects that can be tied to both leads and contacts, so one can see which leads and/or contacts are related to the organization. What also makes no sense is when one converts a lead to a contact, their job title field disappears altogether and the data from the field does not transfer to their corresponding field entitled "role."

  • Hello everyone, an update from the product team: ability to customize your Leads list view field selection and sort on a field is coming in the near future, we are targeting end of April.

Our engineers are actively working on finishing up this improvement and releasing for Leads first. We look forward to your feedback! This capability will later be added to all the other main objects in Insightly, such as Contacts, Organizations, Projects and so on.

  • Have you finalised customization for sorting Leads as yet. Is it possible to sort by location?

  • This was supposed to be released in April, according to Maria's post above. What's the status of this? It's really an essential function for our team.

  • I wanted to make a quick post here when I ran into the strange fact that even though I am logged into Insightly, I needed to make another login for support. That was dumb, but I felt strongly enough to go ahead and go through the process anyway just to post this.

I am so happy that I ran across this issue during the free trial. I was going through the process of manually changing some contacts and leads after the imperfect importing process (not their fault). I decided to take a break and learn more about the lead section. as many people would do, I first looked at the list and saw that it was not in any order that I would need (don;t know how it is sorted) so I simply looked at the top of the screen to sort the names.........nothing.

Then, remembering that for the contacts I had to leave the contacts field and change a user setting to allow it to sort by last name (a strange thing by itself instead of just sorting by the headings), I checked the the settings for leads.......nothing.

Like an normal person, I went to the forums and found.......this. A feature requested in 2015 that any CRM in the world would have a s a normal feature and responses ranging from "we are working on it" to "maybe you should try another CRM" to "not many people really have voted for this feature" are seen.

This, of course, culminates with the announcement that this feature is coming by the end of April 2017.....it is August. When asked about the date, the answer has been.......nothing.

It is absurd, first, not to have this feature, second - to claim this is not a highly requested feature and I don't know what to make of the announcement that the feature was coming and then silence. Perhaps the reason there weren't many votes could be because you first need to login to even see the forums. Or perhaps we don't know how to place our vote. I know I don't. No idea.

In any case, we are obviously out. Even if this feature suddenly pops up tomorrow, we are out. The fact that this company does not recognize that sorting and managing your leads is a core part of a CRM clearly does not understand CRM systems in any way. Furthermore, the feedback of the customers is clearly ignored.

I would recommend that anyone considering this software stop now.

Furthermore, for those of you continuing to work with the firm, find an inexpensive option and just move. It's not as painful as you think. Just export the contact data and virtually every system will enable you to upload the data with a CSV file. A couple of good options (neither of which we are using) would be Nimble or Zoho. There are dozens more.

For your own peace of mind and to reduce your stress, please find somewhere else to go. This firm clearly does not understand this space and clearly doesn't care what their customers, who probably understand the space much better, want.

    Thanks for your time.

    Bye

  • Hello everyone. Apologies for an overdue update on this critical feature. I completely understand the frustration that the previously communicated timelines have come and gone - which is why it is a very tricky business for product and software development teams to provide timelines.

Update on Sorting Leads: a sorting feature on all main Insightly list views has been developed but will be released later this year in a consolidated update to your CRM with many other improvements alongside sorting, such as: Kanban view, Blade interface and more. You can read more here in our recent press release.

Going forward we will continue to mark features on our community as "planned" but will be much more careful committing to timelines. We will rely more on our press team to share exciting changes to our product to our current and prospective customers.

As always, thank you for using Insigthly and being patient with us.

  • First, anyone who actually believes this is a fool.

Second, the fact that this was not recognized as a key feature from the beginning is unforgivable and reinforces the notion that they are not experts at all in this field.

    Good doay.

  • Hello everyone - the wait is over!

Depending on your plan, you can now switch to the New Insightly Experience and customize your list views: select columns, sort, save and share lists.
Take a look at this video also as it guides you through list customization and sorting.

We are thrilled to bring you this change and hope you like it.

  • Thank you!   Can you tell me how to get the insight cards show up?  There is no weather or time or anything showing up in my contacts or organizations.

  • @Jamie - this particular feature is lagging behind a bit. Should be released within the next few weeks. Appreciate you trying the new Insightly user experience.

  • Ok thanks.    Not sure where we should report bugs but here is a little one.   When entering a contacts title it saves properly and is viewable as should be when you are in the contact but if you are in the organization and looking at the list of contacts that are in that organization the titles do not show up.  Old ones that were ported over from the old version of insightly do show up but new ones entered do not.  Here is a screenshot.  Notice Dann's title is absent.  But in the next screen shot you can see it is indeed entered.
