Add time scheduling to tasks

As well as having a 'start date' and 'due date', can we have a 'start time' and 'due time'? Or even 'this task should take X hours and Y minutes to complete. That would make it easier to schedule tasks / workload into a working day and would avoid overloading yourself with work. It would also help me to give customers a realistic timescale for any given new task if I could see what other work is due. Even better if it linked with the calendar so that if you move tasks around on the calendar and they automatically update in the task list.

    This can be accomplished by using custom fields for either start and end time, or estimated hours. If you are on Enterprise, you can use calculated fields to set up time tracking.

    We don't have an implementation date for this but will update the community when any new features are added :)

    Can't wait for this to be finally available, it's really frustrating when say I have a call with client scheduled for 12 o'clock, but I have no way to remember it, thought that's what crm is for, to make out lives easier..

  • I would really like to see this feature added as well. While I still have my Insightly account, I haven't used it the last couple months simply because I don't have this option. I got tired of losing pieces of paper with times written down. It's much easier to have all the important information in one place!

    Can you please add a time function for tasks.  Especially meetings.

     Without this feature the Calendar is very limited.

    One of our major future intiatives is to overhaul Tasks, towards the end of 2016. It will be then that we'll be able to see what improvements can be made. We'll definitely keep you updated if anything changes.     Towards the end of 2016????

    I need to have a task for a specific date & time so that I will be reminded to call a customer... just the date doesn't suffice.

    Please suggest a workaround... I do have a Gmail account.

  • End of 2016 is not an acceptable timetable.

    I expect a sales tool to allow me to schedule sales appointments/calls etc.

    Work around - option 1

    Make a task in insightly on a date, go to google calendar, drag that task into an hour slot.

    Work around - option 2

    Go straight to google calendar, add this task, 'find a sales tool that allows me to schedule appointments directly inside of it'. You should be able to do this in a fortnight. Or you could wait until the end of the year...and hope they add that feature.

  • Allow users to set a timeframe and date as we would on a calendar app like iCal. Right now I'm utilizing Events for a Task function because tasks sets a calendar event for the whole day. many other CRM tools provide exact calendar timing on Tasks. I prefer to check off tasks with a specific date and time (beginning and end point), that can be shown on my Insightly calendar and also on iCalender. Please make it easy to select a date and time from pull downs.

  • This is about as simple as it gets. Scrap the events and simply move the code over to tasks, or vice versa. An event is simply a task with a start and end time. You already have the code in Events. This is absolutely a MUST!

  • Lyla, this is really amateurish and I am going to look for another CRM because of it. I am now starting to need my CRM because I give a lot of webinars in different time zones. I need to attach notes to them and see them in my calendar at the correct times but I can't attach notes to events and I can't schedule a task by time.

    When you were designing the system, didn't anybody think these things would be important? They are essential and vague suggestions that they will be looked at almost a year from now doesn't cut it. Insightly is an otherwise good system but this destroys your credibility.

  • I like the "idea" of being asked to participate in a study, however we're all busy people who've chosen Insightly for the time being over other CRM tools. I completely agree with Steven above that Tasks are always time based within a day, and visible on the calendar within a specific timeframe. Tasks are still placed in a checklist que as now, and ordered based on time slots within a day. Basic project management requirements.

  • Insightly is a whisper away from being a great CRM versus mediocre at best. It would take only a couple of VERY simple tweaks. This is one of them. In the time we've taken typing in our complaints, the developers could have fixed this. Waiting until later in the year doesn't work when the problem is creating a nightmare for your business. We are looking for an alternative, but hoping Insightly will do the right thing quickly so we don't have to switch. Insightly is so close, yet doesn't even see the possibilities!

  • Dear Insightly,

    I have two major concerns:

    1)The need for times on tasks that we are all requesting.

    2)The lack of a proper response from Insightly over this issue. If you can't respond to a reasonable request like this, what happens when something bad happens and the code needs a rapid update. The lack of adequate response here is shocking.

    Your core business is 'Customer Relationship Managers'. Maybe it's time you started walking the walk, not just talking the talk.

    We hear your need for having time assigned Tasks in our Community. There are several requests for time tracking in our Community, for example - Time tracking by the minute, only for Tasks, hourly times that flow into your billing system just to name a few. The User Study is offered as an option for you to tell us what time tracking means to you, in addition to your comments and votes here.
