Add time scheduling to tasks

As well as having a 'start date' and 'due date', can we have a 'start time' and 'due time'? Or even 'this task should take X hours and Y minutes to complete. That would make it easier to schedule tasks / workload into a working day and would avoid overloading yourself with work. It would also help me to give customers a realistic timescale for any given new task if I could see what other work is due. Even better if it linked with the calendar so that if you move tasks around on the calendar and they automatically update in the task list.

  • Thanks Phil... did you check out both Pipedrive and AgileCRM? Any feedback you can share?
I share your frustration with insightly on this matter... it does not appear to be a priority for them

  • Hi all,
Been dealing with flooding in California so my answer was short. Pipedrive is not remotely close in features as insightly. However, have you tried timecamp integration with insightly yet? It adds a ton of new features for tracking time. Have a look.

  • @Eric Greenspan

You certainly didn't answer our question. I just looked up "timecamp" and that is most certainly not a solution to all the comments on this thread. I appreciate your "personal" issues, however I don't feel it is appropriate to use that as an excuse on an online help and suggestions forum. Is this the sort of customer service we deserve while paying each month for this service? You have given me further reasons based off of your "fix for the scheduling" and your lack of care for your customer base to quit Insightly. Sorry to be harsh, It's nothing personal. However, this is not good business. If Insighly is not going to include this feature, just say so! We are all trying to make money with our businesses and it's not fair to string us along. Maybe you should re-vamp your target market. . .

  • Sorry, I should clarify, I'm not an insightly employee. I'm a "hero" which means power user. I'm just trying to help here.

  • Have you considered custom fields or events?

  • Ok... I'm going to be polite. . .  Are you typing from a script you were given? Or did you just not read the entire thread of comments about adding time option to tasks? There has not once been a direct response to the issue here. . . I am much too busy to continue with this debate, nor should I have to debate with the company (or Insightly Hero) I am paying each month. I'm out.

  • Phil,

I'm the CEO of an innovation and marketing company lending you a free hand.

Please don't be disrespectful to me. If you have issues with insightly, I get it but I'm just a guy like you that uses the tool for my company and for my customers.

I don't know what the company is planning to do. I'm providing you some ideas from my personal experience. I'm no slouch I can assure you.

    Best of luck.

  • What is taking so long with this issue? It's a simple fix. Just add a time field for tasks like you have a date field. Not hard to do. After reading through this entire thread it makes me wonder how many more of these you will see:

  • I vote for this because I can assign a task to another user, but I cannot assign an event to another user or another user's calendar or assign (invite) multiple users. This would be a work-around.

Of course, I'd rather be able to put events on another calendar and invite multiple users to it -- that makes more sense, but this would be better than what we have now.

  • I see the point but I personally like more to see a feature that in assigning a certain task to the calendar I can see how many tasks already scheduled on that day. Thus I can plan my future workload more evenly.

  • To address Scott trouble with timing, hope new features in insightly have already addressed his issue.

Time tracker is available in many CRM's but they might not be necessary as we imagine. Insightly is already offering an integration if needed but I don't think it is necessary within the system?

I was also having the same issue but solved eventually by following method.

    • For 'start time' and 'end time' created a 'Custom Field' as a number with the name. I would write hours and minutes for the particular task.
    • This allowed me to create a nice dashboard chart based on the data entry and compare with the tasks.

Hope this can help Scott too.
