Automatically Log Phone Calls Placed by App
I just realized there is a glaring omission to the way that Insightly handles customer interactions.
If I use the app to place a phone call to a customer, Insightly does NOT automatically log that event. That means that phone call never happened, unless I go into the customer, and create a new task and mark it as a completed phone call.
This seems like a one of the most basic features of a modern CRM. Knowing when you last contacted a customer. Especially if you use the app to place that call.

Thank you Lyla for this. This is very helpful. I'm afraid to vote for anything higher, as I can rank the order of preferences, but this is useful to see what features are coming down the pike. Thank you!
Sure thing Brent!
I vote YES as soon as possible!!!
As most users, I use my mobile phone more than ever before. Away from my desk, out of the office When I cannot use my desktop, I need an easy way to log calls. Please do this soon Insightly. Do not let other CRM systems stay ahead on this.
@DavidB, have you found anything worth using?
I'm finding Dejacontacts on Android excellent,
the sandboxing limitations of iOS has intimidated the CRM industry into restricting functionality, Ironic considering iOS forced so much opening up of data traffic opportunities.
Should we just give up on ever seeing this crucial feature added? J hate to leave Insightly for another CRM but I could learn another CRM in the time it currently takes to log a day of phone calls.
I agree with an earlier poster-on each contact, we have files, notes, emails and tasks. A 5th tab with 'calls' or 'communication' directly on each contact would be super helpful.
Hi Ben, Brenda. I think the problem is the apple restriction on one app talking to another. I use an android app {dejaoffice}so as to have this feature. Insightly could make this feature available on android only but apple is dominant and they seem to want a common feature set even at the expense of the user experience, and their business ultimately.
How to vote?
Good afternoon,
I am so disappointed that this very basic app feature has not made it into production for the mobile app. This is really frustrating. I've been a user for nearly 2 years. This feature has existed in Pipedrive (https://blog.pipedrive.com/2016/01/call-tracking-arrives-for-ios-and-android-apps/) for nearly 12 months. Is this legitimately on the roadmap or not? I'm going to guess "NO" given the language in this post: https://support.insight.ly/hc/en-us/community/posts/205369328-Post-calls-made-from-the-iPhone - the tone has move from "it's on the road map" to "we hope to look into it in the future".
This seems at odds with this message: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8T2RiAxRDAo
This is very unfortunate and may likely result in my departure from the product.
Hi Rich,
Apologies for any confusion and your frustration we may have caused you. This request is indeed on the roadmap. In fact, it is in active development. As much I would like to also tell you when it will be available, it is impossible for me to share that at this point. That said, I'm hopeful that it will be available in the first half of 2017. In the meantime, can I suggest that you use notes to provide a short recap with your team of any calls you have?
Best,
Jonathan
Jonathan,
Thank you for the reply. As a former developer, project manager and consultant I appreciate the information. As a customer I remain quite frustrated.
Again, Insightly is a fantastic product. But, this is a glaring defficiency for a mobile professional.
This feature is also available in Zoho and is very well developed in Apptivo. I keep wishing I could go back to Insightly too manage tasks and projects for the quality of it's layout and structure but the absence of call logging is a deal breaker unfortunately. Why so long to rectify this?
Hi there. Is this feature still on track for "the first half of 2017?" Or sooner perhaps?
Hi John,
Happy New Year!
We are still on track! Will keep you posted.
Lol @ the developers.
2017 and still no call tracking.
I did find this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magneticonemobile.phone2crm.insightly
I'm wondering if it's safe to use.
That app looks promising Steve apart from your experience, any improvement since?
I've been using Toysoft Call Notes https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.toysoft.callnotes) and directing all traffic to a new dedicated Google calendar I set up to avoid clogging up my appointments calendar, may be one work around.
Whatever Insightly do will be Android only because iOS sandboxing restricts the kind of cross connections required here.
Unless Insighlty has the balls to stand up to the iOS hegemony, there are more customers out there than just Apple owners.
Thanks John. I'm trying the app and it seems to only sometimes work. I'm going to reach out to the developer.
Any update to this feature request from 2 years ago?
Partial solutions to the hoards of disappointed users above, or people considering Insightly:
Bitrix24. Calls are integrated. But we had issues with it integrating to Gmail.
Freshdesk. Calls integrated. Staff had specific usability issues.
Callrail. Reports within callrail, but can't integrate reporting with crm, unless you also use/pay for Zapier.
Grasshopper. Haven't used, but sales rep said they couldn't forward calls to another toll free number (our call center).
I've given up, Dejaoffice is working fine for a one man band,
How do the big companies, with whom insightly hopes to compete, address this?
Good new i have a work around to this problem
you people can download & subscribe an app from google play store
named call tracker for insightly CRM
from magneticonemobile
please do let me know if it works for you people as well
if it works ,welcome in advance
Call tracker for insightly CRM does NOT work.
I tried it, tested it on multiple phones, etc and it is completely unreliable.
I'd also love for my email from O365 to be integrated correctly. It should not use up any additional space from my plan because I'm already paying for the space with O365. What I do need is for emails to be automatically tracked/linked to contacts and opportunities that are open.
i found this thread very interesting. what updates have we made on this? any help articles I can read?
This entire thread is a joke.
To promise something as vital as this for 2 YEARS and not even come close to implementing this is inexcusable.
Looks like I'll be heading back to Zoho. At least they have a clue about what their customers NEED. I feel like I've wasted every single cent I've given to Insightly. I'm done with my CHARITY for a company that is clueless.
Being a mobile developer as well, I know how easy it is to read the call log on Google and Apple devices, the fact this does not exist is mind blowing to me. The concepts of this is stupid easy.
1. Periodically scan the call log of the mobile device, updating the time of the last scan to make sure you do not pull in duplicates
2. Send the individual numbers one by one to Insightly, to match to the phone numbers in Insightly to see if there is a match.
3. If match is found, update Insightly with time and date of the call, indicating it was a cell phone call.
The one thing I would love to see is some type of notification to that user the the entry was made so that if the call is related to an Opportunity or Project, they could quickly review the entry and update the link accordingly.
I received an email today from this company announcing the integration (http://magneticonemobile.com/products/call-tracker-for-insightly-crm.html), which I have been talking to for more than 14 months.
To my surprise the launch was of the business card reader. This reminded me that the CRM we have been using since 2015 has been reporting that the new functionality is in the development queue. I thought that in this last update of layout and usabilidada, the new functionality would come together.
The truth is that over the past two years see a lot of evolution of the features of the competitor Insightly. I apologize for the writing she has been translated from Portuguese to English.
Great recent 2018 announcements but a bit disappointed on the lack of Phone/VOIP or IMAP integraton (been waiting a long time!) . I've tried a few phone services such as Ring Central and been seeing connections to CRMs such as Apptivo and Zoho. Curious why this doesn't make the list as I personally see it as a necessity and a huge time saver. To make several calls a day and not worry about CRM input (it always knows!) is key. Hopefully, some future integration VOIP/Telephony news in 2018/2019. Same request for IMAP but that's another topic. BTW, Insightly logo is on Phone.com's website as a customer?... Do you use it and if so - how? Perhaps you can work with them to bring it to the people!
Hello Robert,
Insightly is working on an upcoming Insightly Voice feature. We hope to release Insightly voice in the future, and in the meantime, you can follow when new features are released here: Product Updates from Insightly.
Once Insightly voice is officially released, we will have articles and videos so you can learn more about our awesome new feature.
Thanks for your comment!
Did this ever get built? It was in the pipeline in 2015 it's now 2018
