Allow task due dates to start when previous task in activity set was completed

It would be very helpful to have the task due dates start when the previous task in that activity set was completed. Sometimes there are extenuating circumstances that cause certain tasks to be completed after the original due date. When that happens, every other task down the line in that activity set are also behind.

  • I have a similar request to this. Currently when creating Activity Sets we are only able to set the task X amount of days after the start or the finish date of the Activity Set.

If there was the ability to set a task X amount of days after the previous task in the same activity set, I think that would solve a lot of problems. Then if one task is late it could update all the following tasks.

  • Yes!!! Please incorporate this function. :-) But I would like to include Events in the list of dates to base on.

For example, I like to schedule a follow up call after I have an initial meeting with a prospect. I always set a task to remind me to set the meeting. I put the meeting in as an event. I would then like a task to be created 7 days after the event date. Currently, there is no way to do this. I can only schedule a task based on the start of the activity set. I still create the tasks, but I ALWAYS have to go back and edit the follow-up task date. Sometimes I get the task reminder before the actual initial meeting if I forget to edit the task.

    This would be very helpful.

  • Ditto what Scotty said.  Another example is:

I'm scheduled to treat a bunch of cows at a dairy on a specific date, and there is prep work to do as well as having my assistant follow up after the event to make sure there are no complications.  The date for this event or task is fixed.  However, the tasks surrounding the treatment need to happen both before and after that date.

  • Yes this would be a very useful feature. We would need the option to have the tasks dependent on either the start date or the completion of the previous task as the requirements could vary from project to project.

  • Any update on including this feature?

We often have activity sets or strings of tasks that different departments are responsible for and each subsequent task in the chain can only be started once the earlier task is completed. Having this option will allow us to see tasks we have coming up but are waiting on someone else to complete their earlier bit, as well as get notification that they have completed their task and we're now required to complete our bit. Will also let management see where hold-ups/delays are occurring...

  • Not sure if this requires a separate entry, but similar to this idea, it would be beneficial for my team to have the due date for tasks X number of days after an event date.  Currently, we are having users enter an event and then change pipeline stage for tasks to generate with the due date of X number of days past the start of that pipeline stage start date.

The event and tasks should be in the same pipeline stage but haven't figured out a way to make this work in Insightly. Any thoughts?
