Feature request - add all options for social media

Please, please, please, give us the option of adding all social media profiles to accounts, particularly facebook fan pages for business. Companies use of social media to keep in contact with their customers/clients is only increasing. The way around this currently is to add the social media URL into the 'linked in/twitter' field, but then it shows incorrectly in the right side bar as a 'linked in' account when in fact it is not.

    Hi,

While we do not have dedicated fields for every social media profile, you can add a custom field to both the contact or organization object to support the social link type of your choosing, and we have a dedicated type of custom field just for hyperlinks - the URL field. You can add a Facebook Business Page URL custom field to organizations for example, and then use our importer to import data into that to update records or use inline editing to copy the data into that field. Our Reporting Engine also supports adding and filtering by custom fields for any report.

  • Agreed, I would also like to be able to add Facebook and Linkedin profiles to an organization, as well as Facebook profiles to a contact.  Thank you Sally.

  • I agree!  My hack was to consume a bunch of custom fields, but it seems silly to dedicate so much of the input form to "social profiles", when you can only manually create links for Twitter & LinkedIn.  Please allow the user to add any link to social profiles.

  • Totally agree. Other CRMs at the same price point have this option. I just began a free account on Agile CRM and that was one of the first things I noticed that they have.

  • Is this on the roadmap yet? The original poster added this request back in July of last year.

  • Thanks for showing your support and continued interest in this feature request. This has not made it's place on our current road map but if things change we will be sure to let you know!

  • Lyla, thank you for the update. Please pass the word along that this is a feature we really want to see added. It's not so much of a feature request as it is a fix to an existing, limited feature.

  • Yes, agree totally with all said above, this seems like entry point stuff in 2016, being able to add a company facebook and linkedin page, as well all the other social channels. And also be able to see some of the info from them without having to leave insightly

  • Yes. This seems like a given. Make it happen!

  • Yes the option to add a variety of other social networking platforms would be great. Basically all that exist so we can pick and choose. Thanks.

  • Hi Community,

A workaround I have seen others use is a Custom Field with the Url option.

  • I vote for these additions too.  Insightly also fails to pick up many accounts including my own Facebook profile (even though its listed as public).  It also picks up a Twitter and Klout account which is not linked to my email address suggesting the social search partly depends out of date lists / names rather than a live search based on email address.

  • Hi Andrew:

The service Insightly uses does take the name and email address to pull this data from the internet. Sometimes this can hit a bump if there are name matches or limitations on what can be reached on the social sites. Thanks for letting us know that this is important to you too.

  • This is crazy -  the omission of a dedicated Facebook field....

'Social profiles' takes up 33% of the page  - just to display a tiny twitter link

  • This is completely outrageous!
I use Facebook for 60% of customer relations.

  • Hi Magnus,

It's great to hear your feedback. The reason Facebook was not included was due to the vast majority of our users were not using Facebook for their customer relations/business.

  • Increasingly clients are communication through Facebook, Whatsapp, Google+ and Skype (unfortunately....too many channels). Live chat channels (and recording communications) are also standard now....

  • So when will you include it? :-)

I would also be great to be able to send private facebook messages directly from Insightly.

Can you integrate with facebook messenger?

  • I posted my original request on this subject a year ago and since then many people have voiced the same opinion that they need the social media function to be fully functional, including Facebook which most small businesses rely on heavily for business. However there has been no progress at all from Insightly which gives the impression that you're really not interested in what your customers want, so I'll be moving to a different CRM which has been designed for the 21st century - there are plenty of them!!!

  • We are voting for this feature as well.

  • We just left Prosperworks (now Copper) for Insightly- and first negative is the lack of social media integration -so disappointing. See Nimble for great social media integrations! (Its not enough however to justify joining them they sadly lack simple mailchimp/marketing integrations)

But for Insightly to not have any social media automatically populating contacts, or a view of recent tweets then we are all really missing out on what our contacts are up to. Considering cancelling before we get stuck in any further.. ..
