Enable @mentions functionality inside comments

Is User A creates a task and assigns it to User B, both users will automatically be following the task and would receive notifications based on their personal settings.

However, is User B posts a comment to the task and wants to ask user C for their views on that one comment, there is no easy way for User C to be notified. Typically User C would not be following the task because up to that point they have no reason to do so.

The only way I know to do this would be for User B to first re-assign the task to User C and then post the comment, hoping that User C's notification settings would trigger a notification. This is a cumbersome 2-step process and does not work if User B wants to consult more than one other user (since the same task cannot be assigned to multiple users).

It would be great if User B could simply enter one or more @username mentions in the comment and know that the system would send a notification to the named user(s).

  • Also a mention benefit around systems like Trello...

This would be a great option....in fact, having the ability to comment on any object would be great: contacts, organizations, opportunities, events and tasks...

  • This hasn't found a place on our roadmap at this time, Remco.  Thank you for commenting our Community, hearing user's preferences first hand does help us with planning for possible improvements!

  • Would love to have this feature! I think about doing it a lot. Instead, I assign the task to the person I want to see it, then I add in a comment and ask them to assign it back when they have reviewed it and leave a comment of any info I need.

  • Any updates on if you plan to add this feature? It would take insightly to the next level of functionality for our organization and is currently the most glaring gap in Insightly's functionality I can see.  As our teams collaborate on tasks it would be incredibly useful to be able to @mention a specific team member for input. Further, as a sales manager, it would be great to be able ask questions about specific leads or opportunities to the team without moving the conversation to another platform (such as slack). In a past job we used Salesforce which accomplished this with a "chatter feed" on the home screen of each opp, it worked great!

  • This is the single most needed feature I need for my team.

Being able tag people and have browser notifications alert me when I'm tagged is essential to my workflow.

  • Yes, agreed. This would be a huge benefit. I frequently work with other people who I'd like to chat with about specific projects, tasks, and opportunities, and being able to mention would make a whole lot of sense. Every other CRM and PM tool allows you to do that, seems simple enough to add!
