Assign a team to a project?

We're a highly collaborative group and projects are almost never assigned to an individual, but rather to a group. However I can't see any way to assign a project to a team...only an individual. Some of the individual tasks within a project might be assigned to a person, but we all share the same basic skillset so it's not uncommon for one of us to just grab the next task in a project and take responsibility for it.

Am I missing something?

  • Hi Jason,

Great question! I've seen other Insightly users be successful by leveraging a few different features:

    • The project manager, or point person, should be listed as the Responsible User for the respective Project.
    • Set the Project's Visibility Permissions to the Team responsible for completing the Project. That way, your users will only see Projects that they are involved in when they view the Projects section.
    • Have every team member follow the Projects that they're involved in so that they automatically get notifications when the Project is updated.

  • Hi Jason,

I wanted to let you know that I posted a video walkthrough of what I suggested here a little earlier today in the Tips and Best Practices area of the community.

I post there regularly, so check back if you're ever looking for ideas!

    Cheers!

    Nate

  • The Visibility Permissions route does not work well if project teams vary a lot from project to project.  It works great if the same team handles the same types of projects consistently (for instance, "help desk", but not if teams vary with every project (for instance, one person from sales, one from R&D, one from supply chain). One workaround we have found is to create a tag for the team, tag the project, then filter by the tag.  Not perfect, but at least it allows the team to see the projects they are working on together
