Opened Emails

I know I can look to see how many emails have been opened. Is there a way to see who opened an email without clicking on each sent email?  If not can that be added. It would be very helpful to see who opened an email and who didn't so I could determine what follow up was needed.

    Hello all,

I wanted to personally jump in and let you all know that we're working really hard on a new app for Insightly and it's coming in the form of Marketing Automation. The functionality you're looking for will be apart of this new tool that we're developing and we're super excited to bring it to market. The reporting is beautiful.

Please know, we are not currently looking at implementing this feature directly in CRM as it will be apart of our new Marketing Automation App.

Stay tuned and I promise you this, you'll love it.

  • Unfortunately, there isn't a way to see this; however it would be a great suggestion. :)

  • Its a great idea...

Take it up a notch and imagine that you could automatically create task based on who opened your email and when...!

  • How can I see who opened my email? I cannot even see opening them one by one. Is there a way to see it? Thanks

  • @IIdiko- You will not be able to see who opened the email, since you're hoping it was the individual who received your email :).

You can see when the email was opened. You would need to go to your Emails tab > select the Sent email option > click on the desired email > under Email Events you can see the date and time an email was opened.

    I hope this helps!

  • Nora, I am looking to see how I can identify if an email template email has been opened.   I followed the above instructions but I do not see Email Events as an option when I click on the desired email.

  • @Kerry - Can you please provide us with an example email that you sent? I can take a look further into this once I know which one you tried.

    Thank you!

  • @Kerry - You can tell me the subject of the email, that'd be sufficient!

  • Name of email is Test for Opening or a second one is Test.       I assume if there is not a star burst next to an email than I did not use a template and therefor cannot view if it was opened or not?

  • Hi Kerry, this is Lyla also from Customer Support :)

That is correct, the starburst lets you know that an email template was used to send. You will only be able to track statistics on the emails that an email template was used :)

  • Hello, please see above.  I am waiting for someone to review my email sample above so you can help me understand how I can view that it has been opened.  Thank you!

  • Hi Kerry

There is no way you can tell if any single email have been opened in insightly. If you use an email template, which is for sending out many emails at the same time or for sending emails at certain times in your pipeline, you can track the percentage or amount of opened emails. It won't tell exactly who opened it or not though. Does that answer your question? If not feel free to provide any additional information that could describe your use case...

  • I think we all would like to be able to see who opens the emails not just the percent. I was told this is not an issue insightly is going to change. is that correct?

  • Carsten,  there are several references in the Support Pages that you CAN see who opened an email as long as it was sent using a Template and you follow these steps:

Curt,  this was posted under "Opened Emails"

However, I can't seem to get mine to work.

  • Ahh, sorry. You and Nora are absolutely correct. You can see who opened the email. If you send your emails via an email template! If you go to the email tab, click sent emails, find the email you want to check if it has been opened, click it and you should see something like this:

In the email list, a star on the right side of the email subject indicates that a template has been used to send the email.

@Curt Apparently there is no way of checking this without going into every email. I agree that it would be an awesome addition to Insightly.

  • Are you guys going to develop the email reporting so when using email templates rather than tell us a % of opened emails actually tell us which individuals have read? Also is there a facility to feedback if any emails are not delivered?

  • Hi Adam:

I'm sorry to say we will not be adding email tracking to the email template tool. As Carsten & Nora have shared above, the best way to track this is through your Email Events.

Mailchimp offers this type of tracking and Insightly does have an integration with Mailchimp available if this is something you would like to use.

  • Hi,

I just want to follow up and request that a feature be added to allow for us to view who has opened an email and who hasn't. The only incentive, to my mind, for using Insightly for emailing is the ability to see if people have opened it. If there isn't an easy way to tell who we should be following up with, the incentive seems to be gone (clicking through individual contacts / emails is extremely tedious). Until this changes it seems easier to stick with gmail. Let us know when that feature might be added.

    Thanks!

  • I would like to request that a way to track EMAIL EVENTS be integrated into Insightly reporting, so that we can run a report to see who opened our emails we sent using a template and when they opened it. I realize you can do this with Mailchimp, but for leads you cannot upload a list into Mailchimp you don't have permission to mass-email. It will help us determine whether there is interest and/or follow up necessary. Most CRM platforms have this tracking. Right now having to go into every single email and check is extremely time consuming. Thank you.

  • This still seems to be an open request from many users, even a year after the initial post. The Mailchimp integration is helpful, but as Allison rightly puts it, mass e-mails are not possible to send from Mailchimp. As Insightly offers a possibility to use e-mail templates for campaigns to cold leads, it would make sense to add the functionality to create a e-mail event report in advanced reporting, wouldn't it??

  • As a former Salesforce user, this was a routine report that could be run. It is very labor intensive to send out an emial blast and then have to manually monitor click on each starburst or later scroll through each contact. I'm voting to get this feature added.

  • PLEASE add this feature. We have been using Constant Contact and as soon as someone opened up the e-mail it showed up in the report and it showed who opened the e-mail and what time.

  • This is painful, having to open each email sent.

I send out over 100 email a day so that means I have to open 100 to check on them.

  • This thread has been around for about two years now. It doesn't seem that this will be added anytime soon, or does it? Dear Insightly Team, we would love your CRM even more with this feature:)

  • Insightly... This is putting you behind other CRMs... Mail Chimp is not the solution.  If this is not in the cards for the near future, can you please let us know...  I am like a lot of others on this thread and send 50+ emails daily.  There is no way for me to go back and click through each one...  Please help!!!

  • I agree with Riccardo and Charles!  This is a vital feature to help me be more efficient and grow sales; which I believe is Insightly's mission at the end of the day.

  • another vote from me, too

In Gmail it is very easy to see who has opened an email with the 'eye' turning green - this ensures that I follow up with the most appropriate response & target those that have or have not opened my email

fingers crossed it's coming to Insightly soon too
