Business card scanner - option to purchase more scans

Our basic plan limits each user to 5 scans/month. It would be great to be able to increase scans/month without upping our total package.

  • This is a great suggestion and we're definitely looking into ways to address this. We currently have another thread from our users suggesting the same increase in the amount of business cards. I would urge you to place your vote and add your feedback there as well. :)

  • Hi

We have a number of users who do not meet customers face to face and so would not make use of their allocation.

It would be a nice touch if the account had an allocated monthly pool of scans available for all users.

Being able to purchase additional scans in batches of 10 for an appropriate cost would also be a useful touch.

Thanks for the constant improvements :)

  • I have 3 sales people that are constantly on the road and scanning business cards into insightly. Inside the office, I have 9 people who do not scan business cards as they do not deal directly with customers face to face. It's unfortunate that I have to upgrade all users to cover what only 3 will use--many of them will never scan a single business card.

Also, fast forward to our other two locations: I have 2 more locations of folks that I'd like to add to insightly which totals 30 employees--28 of which are internal employees who will never see a customer's business card. I'd like to add these folks to the lower paid tier of insightly, but there's no way that I can justify upping memberships for everyone. This seems crazy and unreasonable.

  • @Evan - Thank you for your feedback!

I totally understand why that can be frustrating and I appreciate you taking the time to let us know that this would be a useful addition for you!

    Thank you!

  • I just came back from a tradeshow and have 200 hundred business cards. I really think it is stupid to limit the scans based on a package. I would love to buy credits but don't find a need upgrade my product.

You guys must realize - ask your CMO - that these kind of (non) offerings damage my customer experience and could trigger me to shop around for another solution...

    When are you fixing this?

  • Hi Mathijs:

The option to purchase additional business card scans is still being considered. We'll update the community once we know something for sure. Thanks!

  • N/M - my teammate just showed me the screen saying that the cards are manually entered.

While I almost cannot believe that is accurate, that would explain the limitations and low priority of this issue.

Is the OCR thing that hard/expensive to integrate?

    Thanks,
    J

    Any motion on this?

The limits that are currently in place are pretty silly, and do not appear to be based on an actual business user's perspective.

I would think that driving adoption of the mobile app has significant data and retention opportunities for Insightly.

Can anyone provide an update or any reason why this issue is not being fixed or at least temporarily increased until you get your end figured out? I mean, what does it cost to allow people to scan more than the limit? Seems to be a small incremental increase in overall system requirements and/or coding...

    Thanks,

    J

  • Hi James,

Great to hear your colleague was able to help. This is on our radar; however our resources are limited and at this time are working on a development project. We'll make sure to keep you and the community posted with any updates.

  • One of the main reasons I wanted a CRM is to manage the 5-7 business cards I pick up every day.  This is a very large part of a sales person's job.  I have the app CamCard on my iphone and have been using it.  Is there an app that could be integrated with insightly?  If not, this may well be a deal breaker for me.  Ronda

  • The Full Contact Card Reader https://www.fullcontact.com/cardreader/ integrates with Insightly via zapier.com.

  • Great find Peter! Ideally, you don't even have to Zap it right? This tool integrates with Google Contacts which can be synced directly to insightly. I have two big events coming up. Can't wait to use this! Thanks again Peter. You are a wise one.

  • Hi Brenda & Nora & the Insightly team,

I've been following this thread for some time and the only positive thing about it is that at least I've found that I am not alone in feeling gigantic frustration at the lack of this feature and Insightly's handling of our questions and queries about it.

The thread was created over 1.5yrs ago and what has the progress been?

One of my teams has been testing Insightly and two other CRMS for six months while we prepare for my company’s launch; finally, after many years of development my company and product is launching on the 1st December.  Now a task I must complete in the next two weeks is to make a final decision on a CRM for my staff.  I would dearly like to choose Insightly however I am very concerned that Insightly is forgetting what your company’s product is for... Customer Relationship Management...... yes?

If I can't enter new clients into the CRM efficiently then there is no customer to manage and your software is not fulfilling its primary function.  Without this there is no sales pipeline, no notes, no bulk data updates, no communication to keep track of, there is nothing as the primary piece of data, the customer file, is missing.

Across my staff we will be obtaining approximately 700 - 1000 new contacts a month and currently there appears no way to handle this with Insightly which leaves us with the option of Salesforce.  I am not a huge fan of Salesforce and I much prefer Insightly's overall operation and UI however Salesforces does have an EXCELLENT integration with CardCam.  I've been testing CardCam for the past three months and its accuracy is very impressive and averaging 92%.  The amount of time this will save my sales staff, the added professionalism it gives them when dealing with new clients and the speed with which potential sales can then be followed up with is worth its weight in gold.  No longer does collecting client details interrupt the flow of conversation or waste valuable time.

A previous comment made by Barbara about Insightly checking with their customer base and being told that accuracy is preferred over speed seems ridiculous when you can have both, they are not mutually exclusive.

Can someone from Insightly PLEASE stop treating their clients on this thread like children and provide a straight answer.  I'll make it easy and provide you a multiple-choice list, please choose any that apply and provide some detail.

    1. Integration with an existing OCR app is being undertaken AND the time frame is....
    2. A custom OCR app will be developed AND the time frame is...
    3. The manual card limit will be increased on a pay for us service model AND this will occur.....
    4. Insightly will not be changing its current card scanning options at any time in the next 12 months

The most efficient and cost effective option would be for Insightly to partner with an existing OCR app and I hope that's what you will be telling us is occurring.

The most important thing here is for Insightly to stop beating around the bush and give a firm answer, enough of leading customers on.

I look very much forward to your swift and decisive response,

    Sincerely,

    Michael Smith
