Gantt charts for Insightly

Hi there, we love Insightly and we want to manage our projects exclusively through the platform but there is no option to create Gantt charts. Is this a feature you could add?

  • It's not on our current road map to include Gantt charts; but its definitely a great request to be voted for and possibly included in the future.

  • Am actually currently looking for a project management program that integrates with Insightly, so far not much luck. Would be great to keep everything (CRM and PM) in 1 program.

  • Gantt charts would be such a great addition

right now I'm forced to plan projects outside insightly just because of the lack of pm visuals. Which is pushing me to consider other CRM's that offer a slightly better PM

  • Some kind of Gantt or basic linear visualization would be a great help; not only for project planning but as a selling tool to help clients understand a proposed project, and as a client update tool to help keep clients informed on progress in an intuitive way.

Perhaps an explicit partnership or integration/app with Smartsheet?  I think that their product would be an excellent complement to insight.ly, if milestones and tasks could be communicated between the two.

  • Please add a gantt chart feature, it's the only thing holding us back from a large scale deployment of Insightly :)

  • Some gantt charts for Insightly projects would be a huge benefit to us. This lack of simple project reporting is making it very challenging to get full use out of Insightly and is unfortunately pushing us to other tools right now.

The idea floated above of integrating with Smartsheets to provide this capability is a great one too!

  • A Gantt chart is a basic project management tool and would great improve Insightly. Right now I'm doing double work/entry to make this happen.

  • Hi everyone,

Gantt charts have not been added to our road map but you may be able to use Power BI to create some great visuals with your data.

  • Since there is no timeline on Gantt our company will be moving to a different software. We grew to a level where we cannot do project management anymore without Gantt and Resource (including equipment) planning. I wonder is there an easy way to transform all our data built in Insightly for the last 3 years to a different platform? We consider Celoxis or Wrike at the moment.

  • Please do consider having a Gantt chart as part of the project management tool.

  • Thanks for sharing the need for  a Gantt chart with us @mi & @Mohd. Shazlan Mohd Anwar.

I'm not sure if you were able to try Power BI to do this but many users have been pleased with the results.

  • Lyla, does Power BI have interactive Gantt charts?

  • Hi mi:

Power BI does have a Gantt chart add-on visual that you can download for free here. You can then import this into your report visual options.

  • @lyla T.   no offense, but you guys are theoretically a 'project management' software along with CRM. and in fact we like most of your features.

We just recieved our full funding and now have to leave you.. simply because you don't have a gantt chart view... We would even pay extra for this. Maybe integration directly into Toms Planner or Liquiplanner?

Its pretty aweful to have your software around so long, and not add a feature that pretty much any project manger on earth would request. Have you spoken to your customers?

What will it take for you to do this in short order?

    ITS ESSENTIAL..

HELP US..I see requests for this going back 3 years???

Here is the BIG THREE NEED

    1) have normal log in streamlining from google app.. Its a simple thing to check if i am already logged into google and use those credentials. but instead you force me to type in my domain

    2) Gantt Chart view and INPUT (see toms planner or liquiplanner)  or integration

    3) a normally functioning decent android app with 100% of features. instead of a 2005 like pseudo app.

What is the problem? have you lost key programmers? and thus have slower release schedule?

  • @Gregory @lila T.

I agree with you re Gantt charts.  I have been running our business on Insightly and SmartSheet for 4 or 5 years, and quite frankly I am pig sick of both.  I have reached the end of my tether.  No matter which way I try, Tasks, Pipelines, Activity Sets, Events or Milestones I just can not make this work in any easy way.  The CRM element has been great, but hey there are others out there who can do the same.  So I will spend some more time and money building a solution and then switch off Insightly.

When they go bust, I will be able to say "I used that software for a few years. Yeah, it was pretty neat, but you know what? They didn't listen to their customers and they couldn't communicate a roadmap."

  • +1 for Gantt charts. Really essential tool, and would like to get away from multiple sites to manage my work. Love Insightly and use other integrations, so would love one for this!

  • +1 for Gantt chart.

The reason Insightly was chosen by my company was to replace a super outdated filing system. Now that our data is comfortably arranged in Insightly's database, it seems my boss's next move is to animate the sales data by way of utilizing a Gantt chart to evaluate opportunities and gauge importance of opportunities. How can I without a Gantt function? It seems a natural progression.

  • I use Smartsheet for project planning, timelines and coordination. I use Insightly to manage emails and leads, and assign tasks from emails within my company. It would be great to be able to integrate these two applications.

  • Gantt Chart Essential.

We are now expanding and if Insightly doesn't offer a Gantt Chart or integration with a suitable program Insightly is forcing us to leave the platform.

Consider this our consultation with Insightly and when we leave you will be directed to this when you ask why.

  • Make sure you are logging on and voting up Gantt Charts and other project management threads and features.  Click on the hearts on the right hand side of the thread!  Insightly needs to live up to its own billing as an integrated CRM and PM and right now the CRM side is getting all the love.

  • Well, This is a 'not-so-fond' farewell. Insightly is trying to be a CRM, when all we want is a great project management and team integration tool.   NO GANTT CHARTS, no good team integration, no multiple layer embedded tasks.

WE FOUND WRIKE.com!!   AWESME Gantt, and awesome everything else... our firm is switching now!

  • Greg,  Thanks for the suggestion.  I will demo.  It seems like Insightly really needs to think hard about its strategy or at least communicate what they are thinking.  I agree that right now saying they are a project management tool is a stretch.  It is a really great CRM and we have finally got it humming along with custom reporting and a custom integration to our website that creates a lead when someone contacts us.

HOWEVER, the biggest improvement we can make in our small business profitability is NOT to simply to sell MORE, but to sell RIGHT.  Selling Right means selling the right product, at the right price and at the right time  to keep our production teams fully engaged but not overworked.  Just selling without knowing what is going on is throwing crap over the wall - we have tried that and it does not increase net happiness (or actually increase net profit in our business).

I cant figure out how to get Insightly to give me any intuitive look into resource loading.  We are a creative team with each project manager juggling 1-4 projects at a time with the typical client dependent starts, stops, approvals, delays and add ons.  Right now I manage by walking arround, asking, "how does your week look".  That is fine and good but not scalable.     I am trying to get MS BI to help me but it seems like trying to use a semi truck to move an open box of kittens.     I have added start date, ship date, hours required as custom fields to projects... ..  If anyone has any help, I would love to hear it.

  • It's hard to believe that this is not a feature yet of Insightly! I had to take users off Insightly and move them to a PM tool.

Why waste Insightly's limited development resources on this?
