Insightly Gmail Sidebar

I have just installed the Insightly sidebar for gmail. Generally it is a great tool. However when I click "save and addlink" there is no window which allows the email to be added to projects. Any ideas?

  • How do I install the sidebar on more than one gmail account?

  • Hi Jake,

The sidebar refers to the email address that is on the User Profile of your Insightly account. If you have multiple Insightly accounts you can log in out of them under the settings menu.

  • Hi Jeanette,

We do have a Firefox sidebar on our road map. We will let the community know once this becomes available however, there is not a specified timeline for releasing this.

  • Great news - The "Save & Add Link" button has been fixed!

Your Gmail should update automatically but you can double check that you are on the updated Version 1.7.61.2 by clicking the life preserver icon on the left.

If you're not on this version a hard refresh (Ctrl+R) should get you there :)

  • Hi!

I have a similar problem with Insightly sidebar for GMail (using chrome). What happend is that when I click the Save and add link button, the add link windows appears at incorrect position which makes me unable to link the email to my project.

Please have a look at the photo. You can see that the window is shifted to the left.

  • Hi there Minh:

The Sidebar is not currently compatible with Gmail Inbox. Hearing user's preferences helps us with planning for possible improvements. Thank you for being part of our Community and showing interest in this feature request.

  • Hi Lyla!

I am not refering to Gmail inbox but the traditional gmail. As you can see from the photo, the problem happens with first-gen gmail.

  • Thanks for clarifying Minh!

Do you have any other extensions running? Some extensions will conflict with the Sidebar. There are some troubleshooting steps at the end of this article.

Let us know the outcome of trying each of these.

    Thanks!

  • Hey there, just adding my voice to wanting a Firefox Gmail sidebar. I signed up for Insight.ly because of gmail integration, but my work browser is Firefox, so unfortunately, in my use case, I'm not as well integrated as I had hoped to be. Looking forward to seeing a Firefox/Safari sidebar!

    Thanks!

  • Hi Lyla!

I have read the recommended article on how to disable chrome extensions.

For my cases, I have installed several Chrome extensions and they could be the potential causes of the problem. However, the problem is I have so many of them so it is not possible to disable one by one to pinpoint which one conflicts with the insightly sidebar.

Here is the list. Which one do you think is the most possible one? Adblock, Adobe Acrobat, Googe Drive, Bitdefender Walet, Google Docs, Google Docs Offline, Google Keep, Google Sheets, Google Slides, GoToMeeting, IDM, Lastpass, MightlyText, Pcoket, Skype, Speed Dial 2.

    Best regards,

    Minh

  • Thanks Harris - Continue to show your support for a Firefox Sidebar in this post here :)

Hi Minh - That's an extensive list! You can eliminate the Google tools so that brings the list down some :)

If you are unable to test by turning the add-ons off. Are you able to try in Incognito mode?

  • Good Morning.

    Any news about this problem?

Yesterday the button "Save and add link" has worked for a while and then no more.

We should change our email clients to switch over gmail for using also your extension but only when it will regularly work.

Look forward to hearing from you.

  • I have google app and installed the Insightly Gadget. At the bottom of the incoming gmail, it allows me to save the contact. However, from time to time, the gadget does not show. Why? What can I do about this? Thanks.

  • Hello,

I was able to get the gmail sidebar set up on my gmail/account working great, but when setting it up for my boss I ran into an issue.  The sidebar function works well, except the button to log an email into Insightly, and neither does the "Save and Add Link".  Nothing happens when pressed and nothing is logged into the CRM.

He does use a Mac, would that make a difference?  Is this an ongoing issue?  I have tried reinstalling the the extension as well as turning off his one other extension, still no luck.

    Thank you.

  • Hello Michael,

Sorry for the experiencing in regards to the Insightly Sidebar for Gmail!

As a company, we're focusing all development efforts on our Insightly Gmail Add-on since it uses the current version of Gmail's API. Eventually, the previous API version will be discontinued. And as a result, the Insightly Sidebar will be removed on 12/31/2018.

Because we are discontinuing the Sidebar at the end of the year, we will no longer review any issues with the Sidebar. However, don't worry, you still have options for saving your emails to Insightly. We recommend installing the new Insightly Add-on for Gmail.

For steps, including uninstalling the Sidebar, please see the below:
    1. Remove the Insightly Sidebar by opening a Chrome window > click the three-dot icon >More Tools > Extensions
    2. Locate Insightly and click Remove
    3. Open the Gmail account that matches your Insightly login
    4. Locate the gear icon > Get add-ons
    5. Search for Insightly
    6. Select to install.
    7. Refresh your page in Gmail > click to open an email. You should see the Insightly Add-on appear on the right-hand navigation bar for add-ons
    8. Allow Insightly permissions to view contacts, emails, etc
    9. Log into the Insightly add-on

You can find an overview of the Add-on here: The Insightly Add-on for Gmail

There is always the option to use your Insightly mailbox address to save emails too.

I hope that gives you some options.
