Manually change "Opportunity Created" & "Actual Close Date" dates

This is of extreme importance when evaluationg the opportunities created in the reports so dates should be accurate with actual fact and not the date where the "opportunity" was inserted or closed in Insightly.

  • Great news everyone - Advanced Reporting offers the option to select "Date Created", "Date Closed (Actual)" or "Date Closed (Forecast)".

    Thanks for the update. However, the request is to be able to modify those dates. I also think it is indispensable!

    For instance, I am currently populating my existing contracts, and need to be able to reflect the actual date of closing, not the date of insertion into Insightly.

  • I too want to put in my vote for being able to MODIFY ACTUAL CLOSE DATE. This is very problematic to new users who are trying to bring their databases up to speed. It doesn't seem like a hard fix at all. Clearly actual close date is just a date field. Why not just make that field user editable like most other fields?

  • This was my main reason for asking for this change...Back logging!

    When you are adding opportunities that occurred in the past, the reports will not reflect what actually happened.

  • Another vote for being able to modify the date actual closed. It not reasonable to expect people can always update the opportunity on the exact date they closed it. Also, anyone starting to use Insightly will not be able to import the previous opportunities with correct dates

    @Mariana - The date closed is generated when the Opportunity is marked as Closed in Insightly.

  • @Lyla Hmm, weird. We have Opportunities marked as open or suspended that have Actual Close Dates listed on them. How would that happen?

    The Actual Close Date is automated so it will only be filled out if the Opportunity was marked as Closed at some point. If it is then moved to Suspended or Open again, the Actual Close Date will not reset until it is marked as Won again.

  • The real problem is if you close a deal, let´s say 30th Jan, and you only close on Insightly on the 3rd Feb you cannot change that date and in all reports the date will be in February not in January, for a monthly business report.

    One thing should be system registry dates, sure are necessary, mainly for database control, but actual open and close dates should be user controlled because of the reports.

    This is just my opinion...

  • I agree with @João - automating that date assumes that we are all accurately reflecting real world in Insightly changes on a daily basis, which realistically does not happen

  • Any update on this issue? So many people flagged it as critical over the course of nearly half a year, yet there is no response from Insightly about whether it can be fixed. It is so unrealistic to expect  that everyone updates opportunities as closed on the exact same day they were closed, and leaving a field open should not be difficult from technical/development perspective. We could not migrate any of our past opportunities to Insightly because of this issue

    This is currently not on our roadmap to be updated. We appreciate the feedback and will take it into consideration for future updates. Although not ideal our Advanced Reporting offers the option to select Date Created.

  • Yes, we also need to alter actual dates closed for an opportunity. Sometimes users close the opportunity later than real close date. For reporting, this is important issue.

  • This has my vote too. Sometimes our staff 'forget' to close the opportunity and it skews the results if it can't be manually manipulated by an admin.

  • I VOTE YES!!  this really does skew the results and makes it impossible to really reconcile our insightly reports with financial without creating a new manual field.  PLEASE CHANGE.
