Doesn't refresh Google contacts

Hi,

I'm trying to import new contacts that I just added to Google contacts, but when I go to import contacts/Import your contacts from GMail there are only the old list and it doesn't allow me to refresh so I can't import my new contacts.

How can I do it?

    It can take up to 24 hours for your newly added contacts to refresh and be visible in Insightly.

  • Why? This is illogical. The contacts are clearly in Google. Why won't Google contacts refresh immediately in Insightly? I've cleared cache, used several browsers etc. Seems your engineers could easily fix this; surely, they must be aware of the problem!!

  • @Stephen - Our contact sync with Google is a one-way sync only. So while you can send changes from Insightly to Google, changes made in Google won't sync back to Insightly.

  • I am having the same problem as Stephen, however, after waiting 30 hours my updates still do not appear in the selection set of Google contacts that I would like to upload.  Furthermore, in the past when I selected Import Contacts from Google, Insightly would take 15 - 60 minutes to connect, now it is instantaneous. Something has definitely changed.  Please help.

  • 96 Hours and my Google Contacts still do not appear for me to select and bring into Insightly,  I am still getting the same results as above, my selection set of Google Contacts to bring into Insightly appears immediately.  It is not refreshing and as far as I can tell does not show any new Google contacts have have been added for 17 days.  Please fix this Insightly as our busy season is fast approaching.

    Can you also try turning off your Contact sync, waiting until Insightly Contacts have been removed from Google then turning the sync back on. Sometimes things just need to be reset.

    Let me know how that turns out and in the meantime, we are looking into this too.

  • Lyla, thanks for getting back to me.  Please note that my Contact Sync. is not and was not on as I really don't want to Sync Insightly contacts with my Google.  I just want to bring a few of my Google contacts into Insightly as they are added.

    Still no change, the new contacts I've added to Google do not appear.

    Can you clarify your steps? This thread addresses Contact Sync but you mentioned that you don't want to sync your Insightly Contacts.

    Are you trying to import your Google Contacts into Insightly? Using the import link on the right side of your Insightly dashboard?

  • In Insightly I select "Contacts", then go to the right side of the screen and select "Import Contacts and Notes".  On the next screen I select "Import your contacts from Gmail".  This paints the screen with the 2,000 or so contacts that I have in Gmail/Google that I can select individually.  However, lets say I had 2,000 contacts three weeks ago but have added ten more since then.  The ten I've added do not show up like they used to .

    I don't want all of my Google contacts in Insightly, nor do I want all of our Insightly contacts in Google.  I say "Our" contacts because there are four of us using Insightly, all loading our own contacts, and if I sync back to Google all of the contacts, including those that are not mine, will come over to my Gmail list.  This is another issue with Multi-User Insightly that should be addressed.

    Here's why I want to load them in Gmail first.  Google works with my incoming caller ID and displays the caller's name and photo, a feature I don't believer Insightly has. So to avoid duplicate work, I prefer to load them in Gmail first then bring them over to Insightly.

    I got some additional information from our product team and found that when you click the Import your contacts from Gmail link, a request is sent out to Google. When the contacts display in Insightly (which can take 30 minutes or more) this is a list that Google provides to us.

  • Lyla, I'm not sure what list you are referring to, do you mean the list of contacts?  As for how long it takes, I understand that completely and am used to it taking some time.  Please refer to my comment from 1/29/16 where I say it used to take 15 - 60 minutes but now it's instant and my updates are not there.

  • Just letting you know that the new contacts added to Google/Gmail still do not refresh on import.  Should we look for a different CRM?

    The list I was referring to is the list of contacts that Google sends over to Insightly. We are looking into this to see why they (Google) are not sending over all contacts to be imported. Will keep you posted here once we hear more.

  • Lyla,  The plot thickens a bit.  On Saturday I checked a few of my older Gmail contacts to bring over to Insightly.  Unlike the newer Gmail contact additions, these contacts did appear in my selection set because they are more than 3 months old.  So I checked the box next to each name, selected Import, received the confirmation email that they imported, but they are still not in my Insightly contacts.

    Just to confirm, I tried them again today with the same result.

    I'm still having the same problem.  New contacts that I add to Gmail do no appear for me to import into Insightly.  Older contacts that do appear do not import even though they are checked.

  • Well it's been over two months.  One day last week I tried it and Shazaam!  It worked, my new Gmail contacts appeared.  However, it only worked once.  Back to the same problem.  Very, very, very, frustrating.

    We're unable to determine why google can only provide us a partial list. The best way to confirm your Gmail contacts are coming through on your Insightly account is to import your Gmail Contacts as a CSV file..

    It appears this was caused by google contact cache in memory not refreshing. This should be fixed.
