  • I'm sorry this is happening Jeff. Let's definitely see how we can resolve this for you. :)

    Are you seeing a processing page? Can you share a screenshot of what you are seeing? Unfortunately, I'm not seeing an error message on our end. Is it possible to try a different browser?

  • I am having the same issue.  Here is a screen shot from chrome.  I have tried in Firefox and IE and get the same issue of it hanging indefinitely.

  • I just ended up extracting my contact from gmail via csv and then uploading to insightly.

    Gmail contact import is not working.

    When I tried Insightly first time (over a year ago) - I got stuck in the same place.

    Decided to give it a try again this week. 

    Same issue.

    Gmail contacts import doesn't work. It shows the message (like Dante's screenshot). Even after waiting for 1 hour, no contacts are imported and the screen still shows the same "please wait..." message.

    Would it be fair to say that a fix for  this problem isn't likely to occur quickly - issue raised in this thread on Sept 10.

    I've just subscribed and for various reasons don't want to import via csv - mainly issues with syncing back to google.

    If your not anticipating to have the problem fixed over the next week or so I will need to cancel subscription.

    We are still looking into this, and I don't have any specific time frame as to when we can expect a resolution. 

    In the meantime, as a work-around, we suggest you manually export your Google contacts, then manually import them into Insightly. It's very easy and this way you have the most control over your data.

    To export your Google Contacts, select all your contacts (or a sub-group), then select the Export option from the MORE menu dropdown. Confirm the contact population and the file format type (Google CSV).

    Using that same file, you can import those records into Insightly.
    We have a number of helpful articles and a video about the import process. Our article Importing data into Insightly covers the basics, as does the Importing Data video at Insightly University.

    These sections for Import and Export have even more articles you can explore.

  • I'm still getting this problem in Jan 2016. Is there a fix on the horizon? Seemed fair to check since there hasn't been an update for months.

  • I never heard back from support re problem but I did get it working.  Jst kept tinkering until something happened - not quite sure what I did now.  My guess is that its not so much a bug as hard to integrate with Google Apps.

  • No errors, the cursor just spins indefinitely. I used export/import in the end, but thats a workaround not a solution.

  • I had exactly this problem and fixed it. 

    In my case the problem was with the app settings (insightly) in google admin.

    Have you granted data access and provided access to everyone?

    My understanding is that import only works if you have a google apps account.

    My recollection is that it really has to be set up from the google apps end.

    Sorry, you are having problems with that!

    I have some information regarding this that may help clarify this issue. When you select the option "Import your contacts from Gmail" the system will only hang if a contact is more than 125Mb or if the list exceeds 25,000 contacts. As a workaround, we suggest you manually export your Google contacts, then manually import them into Insightly. It's very easy and this way you have the most control over your data.

    To export your Google Contacts, select all your contacts (or a sub-group), then select the Export option from the MORE menu dropdown. Confirm the contact population and the file format type (Google CSV).
