Completed tasks showing as overdue

Hi,

In my tasks and projects list - when I complete a task it is striking through, however it is stil staying at the top of the list as an overdue task. It is not moving to the 'completed tasks section.

How do I fix this?

  • Hi Mark,

Sometimes it takes awhile for the system to refresh.

If the problem still persist, then there may be a glitch in the system. If that is the case, change the View to All Open Tasks.

    Hope this helps :)

  • Hello Mark,

I'm happy to chime in on this! Within Insightly, when you mark a task as 'Complete' it will remain where it is in the list of tasks until the end of the day. At that point is when it moves to the 'Completed Tasks' section. If you'd like to only see open tasks, you can set your task filter on the task page to 'My Open Tasks' or 'All Open Tasks.'

    I hope that helps!

  • Thanks to you both - all sorted now!

I just had to wait until the end of the day as you said Melissa :)

  • So this is no longer happening for us. All completed tasks are not being pushed down to the bottom, they are remaining in line with regards to when their due date was. I understand you can change the view to "open tasks" but you cannot do that and then search within the tasks, because then the complete task jump right back in line with regards to their due date.

Is anyone else having the same issue? It just started doing this last week.

  • Hi Jasons,

This is a site performance issue. We're looking into it and hope to have an update soon.

  • Hi All,

Thanks so much for your patience!

We have been working on Tasks showing up Completed in different sections and believe we're getting closer to a resolution. Would any of you have the opportunity to test to see if you're still having trouble?

    Your feedback would be appreciated.

  • I would like to understand why Insightly chooses to have completed tasks appear above open tasks (ever).

I love the "completed" section down below, but why don't tasks move down to that section immediately after being completed? What is the point of giving that kind of page priority to completed tasks? I have a saved report I created to view completed tasks. I don't need to them anywhere else - particularly on the same day I completed them. It just seems like a bad use of valuable screen space.

    Am I missing something?

  • Hi Steve,

Can you share a screenshot of what you're referring to? Completed Tasks will drop off at the end of the day to the bottom. How do you have your Task View set up?

  • What you're describing is accurate. Completed tasks take a day before they show up in completed section - below the active/open tasks. The system doesn't seem to be malfunctioning, it's just something in your design that doesn't make sense to me. Last week I spent a day in a project clearing out a lot of tasks and having to navigate below all of those closed tasks to get to the open ones was a pain in the butt.

I get that you want to show those so there is a visual reference to what was completed in the same day, but in my mind, open tasks should always have top of the list priority. I can live with your quirky choice of displaying completed tasks for the same day. It just would not be my first choice. I think you would agree if you were to work through 20+ tasks in a project in one day. That is definitely not the norm though.

What would be most helpful to me would be to always have the date that a task was completed visible in a task list that shows completed tasks, and to be able to sort on that field. That would be great if that was available but I get plenty done every day within Insightly. I guess that's why some of these little things bug me. I'm spending more time in Insightly as time goes by.

  • We are experiencing a very similar issue. The as tasks are checked off as complete the page refreshes then we find them UNCOMPLETED in the overdue section. We have repeated selected complete again which does nothing to that task, it remains. We have signed out then back in to find the previously completed task still in the overdue section and still not able to the cleared.

    Please address this ASAP!

  • Hi Clint,

We were making some updates on Saturday that may have caused this to occur. Are you still having trouble?

  • The completed tasks still showing not at the bottom is one troubling issue, the other is that

if you choose  "my open tasks" you don't actually get all the tasks for team you are a part of?

    anyone else see this?

  • Hi Ophir:

You will only see your Team Tasks under the My Tasks view. My Open Tasks only displays a Task that you have ownership of.

  • I Understand!.

so there is no way to see all my tasks without all the past tasks that will overflow the page?

    Emotional State: Worried!!!

  • Hey! Sorry to revive this old thread, but I'm having this issue too, and waiting 'til the end of the day doesn't work. I have a big list of "Overdue" tasks from yesterday that have been marked as completed at the top of my list too.
