how to change account owner for free version

I signed up for the free version of Insightly for my company.  I will no longer be managing Insightly and therefore want to change the account owner.  In System Settings, I can assign new administrators but I can't delete myself.  How can we do this?

Thanks

  • Hi Daniel! I'm happy to help.

An Account Owner is created only when an Insightly administrator subscribes to a paid plan on your Insightly account.

The reason you are unable to delete your account is due to you being logged in as yourself. You will need to ask another administrator within your account to delete you as a user or you will need to log in as a different user to be able to complete this process.

    I apologize for the confusion.

  • I also am having this issue. I have logged in as a second Admin, i switched the account Owner to the correct email I would like, but I am still unable to delete the other.

It now shows that I have 2 account owners, where I actually only need one. When I purchase, I dont want it to reflect the two users, I only need to purchase for 1 user. Is there any other work around here?

  • Hi John!

I'm sorry you're having issues with that. I show you have two trial accounts which could be where the confusion is; however both accounts only have one Account Owner.

Can you try to review your accounts once again and try to delete the additional user?

Let me know if you continue to have trouble.

  • Yeah, I wanted to start a trial, but it only limited me to the free version at first, so I had to sign up again.

The one that is a trial that I will have to purchase is the one in question, with the user ending in @cabonite.com.

This is the one where it is not allowing me to delete the other 'account owner' with the gmail.com ending. Shows both as account owners, so I cant delete the gmail one.

  • Hi John-

Can you try to log in to your account and send me a screenshot of what may be blocking you from deleting the additional user? I'm not seeing anything blocking you from deleting the user ending with gmail.com.

  • Urgent. We had earlier 3 free accounts.

    1. Issue 1: none of them is administrator so we cant delete and bring to 1. No System settings is seen in any of them.

    2. Issue 2. We want to upgrade and do not want to be charged for 3 accounts as we want to have 1 from this original list and 1 other email ID. If we have 3 accounts and upgrade will we be instantly charged for 3 accounts.

    request for quick answer

  • @Vikram - I took a look at your account and I'm showing that you currently have admin permissions set. You should be able to access the system settings menu to remove users.

If you're still having trouble, please let us know!

  • Hi Katrinamaevba:

You will need to transfer account ownership to another user temporarily, change your user ID and then have the account ownership transferred back over to you.

If you are the only user in the account you can add an additional user under your new ID and just transfer ownership over once.

    Hope that helps!

  • Hello ! I'm testing the trial version and I realized I made a mistake : a created the account with a generic email (xxx@xxxx.co) instead of my personnel email (xxxx@xx.co). And when I try to change it, it says the email of the owner of the account can't be changed. Can you help me ?

    Thank you in advance !

  • Hi Susana:

There is can only be one person assigned as the Account Owner and the email address for the Account Owner can not be changed. This is done for security purposes. To update your email address you'll need to transfer account ownership to another user temporarily, update the email address and then have the account ownership transferred back over to you.

If you are the only user in the account you can add an additional user under the new email address, transfer ownership and delete the old user.

  • Hi I'm also having this issue with a free account. We're migrating from Google apps to Office365 so I want to delete my account and re-add with ordinary login (without g-suite).  I've made another user and admin and the account owner but I'm still unable to delete my account. Can you please help?

  •  Hello Michelle,

I see I am already working with Jenna Hopkins on this issue through a ticket that was created. If you like I can Cc you on the ticket if you would like to stay in the loop via Jenna's approval.
