Importing Contacts Via .vcf File

Hello,

How do we import out contacts via a .vcf file (aka "v-card")?  Is there anyway to do this?

  • Thanks, Lyla! Do you know if there are any plans to add VCF as a supported format for importing?

  • Count my vote times all of the clients to whom I recommend  Insightly.  VCF is the contact communication standard.  Would love to be able to import contact cards shared via email etc directly into Insightly.  The idea is to make it quick and easy for business owners.

  • Thanks, Lyla, that's a good response to how to EXPORT contacts, but the question was about IMPORTING contacts.  Is that something that is possible?  For example, if someone sends me a contact via iMessage, is there any way to IMPORT that contact into Insightly as a contact or as a lead?

    Thanks!

  • Hi Amy:

This isn't on our current road map but now that it's been added to our Community other users can vote and comment on this as a feature request :)

Thanks for being part of our Community!

  • Hi Bethany:

There is not an option to export your Contacts in bulk as a .vcf file but you can do this for individual records. To do this you will need to be viewing the record and then click the Actions button. Here you will see the v-card option

  • Thanks for the clarifying the question Amy!

Import files would need to be in excel or CSV format to be brought into Insightly. VCF is not a supported format.

  • Yes, this is the industry standard... at present we have to re-type the contact into Insightly... not good... your user base does not really understand this, Insightly is a CRM system, but does not one-click import a VCF file... ?   Uggh !

  • You can convert all your vcf files to csv as following :

    1. c:\users\%username%\contacts

    2. Import vcf
    3. Export to csv
    4. Import the csv into insightly  (you can follow the steps here )

  • Hello T.J. and Everyone,

Thanks for all the comments and votes!

T.J. thanks for the great advice and workaround. If everyone would like to see this feature implemented within Insightly in a future update I suggest posting the idea to our Ideas & Suggestions page. Which everyone can vote and comment on the idea, too. In general, the more activity a request receives, the more likely it is to be considered for implementation.

    Thanks again, everyone!
