Outlook addin Issue

Hi.

I tryed to install Insightly app for Exchange 2013SP1 (and Outlook) following this: http://support.insight.ly/hc/en-us/articles/204061424-Installing-the-Insightly-app-for-Outlook-2013... but when I try to click on the app via OWA I receive this error:

System.ArgumentException: Invalid token. Please reload the app. at OutlookGadgetWeb.Security.TokenAuthentication.UnpackIdentityTokenJSON(IdentityRequest request) in c:\TeamCity\buildAgent\work\a143f4b26d146d88\InsightlyWeb\InsightlyOutlookGadget\OutlookGadgetWeb\Security\TokenAuthentication.cs:line 68 at OutlookGadgetWeb.Security.TokenAuthentication.CalculateOutlookUniqueId(IdentityRequest request) in c:\TeamCity\buildAgent\work\a143f4b26d146d88\InsightlyWeb\InsightlyOutlookGadget\OutlookGadgetWeb\Security\TokenAuthentication.cs:line 72 at OutlookGadgetWeb.Security.TokenAuthentication.AuthenticateToken(String token) in c:\TeamCity\buildAgent\work\a143f4b26d146d88\InsightlyWeb\InsightlyOutlookGadget\OutlookGadgetWeb\Security\TokenAuthentication.cs:line 105 at OutlookGadgetWeb.Controllers.OutlookGadgetController.Authenticate() in c:\TeamCity\buildAgent\work\a143f4b26d146d88\InsightlyWeb\InsightlyOutlookGadget\OutlookGadgetWeb\Controllers\OutlookGadgetController.cs:line 241

Any clue on how to solve this?

Thanks.

  • Hi Jessica,

Any news on a resolution to this problem?

I'm seeing it too, and the Outlook plug-in is one of the major reasons we're looking to adopt insightly as our CRM tool.

    Best regards,

    David

  • Hi David:

Can you try uninstalling and reinstalling? This does work for some users. Also are you getting the same error message?

  • Hi Lyla,

We tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it didn't make any difference.

On the desktop version of Office 2013, the Insightly box shows "loading..." then goes blank.  The Outlook Web App running on a chrome browser shows the error message:

    System.ArgumentException: Invalid token. Please reload the app. at OutlookGadgetWeb.Security.TokenAuthentication.UnpackIdentityTokenJSON(IdentityRequest request) in c:\TeamCity\buildAgent\work\a143f4b26d146d88\InsightlyWeb\InsightlyOutlookGadget\OutlookGadgetWeb\Security\TokenAuthentication.cs:line 64 at OutlookGadgetWeb.Security.TokenAuthentication.CalculateOutlookUniqueId(IdentityRequest request) in c:\TeamCity\buildAgent\work\a143f4b26d146d88\InsightlyWeb\InsightlyOutlookGadget\OutlookGadgetWeb\Security\TokenAuthentication.cs:line 72 at OutlookGadgetWeb.Security.TokenAuthentication.AuthenticateToken(String token) in c:\TeamCity\buildAgent\work\a143f4b26d146d88\InsightlyWeb\InsightlyOutlookGadget\OutlookGadgetWeb\Security\TokenAuthentication.cs:line 107 at OutlookGadgetWeb.Controllers.OutlookGadgetController.Authenticate() in c:\TeamCity\buildAgent\work\a143f4b26d146d88\InsightlyWeb\InsightlyOutlookGadget\OutlookGadgetWeb\Controllers\OutlookGadgetController.cs:line 22

  • I'm experiencing an identical issue as well. Same error symptoms/logs too. However, I can access the Insightly add-in via Outlook webmail from a personal computer.

    Dell Latitude laptop

    Windows 7 Professional x64

Tested on Chrome 48 and Firefox 44

  • In case it helps anyone else, my error seems to have been caused by my network's firewall configuration. After speaking with my network administrator, he made a few tweaks and the Outlook add-in is now working smoothly.

  • Thanks for sharing Eric! That's really helpful.

We've added the information to our Installing the Insightly app for Outlook 2013.

  • Eric, Nora,

The new information only says that administrators may need to adjust firewall and security settings.  It doesn't give any details as to what settings are required.

Is it possible to give a technical explanation of what the actual problem was, and what firewall configuration is required?

We're still running insightly as an evaluation and cannot consider it for wider company deployment until this issue is resolved.

    Thanks

    David

  • Hi David,

Unfortunately, there are so many firewalls that we can't advise you on the right configuration. I apologize for the inconvenience.

  • Hello Nora,

We fase the same issue, the support of insightly is disappointing, incomplete and slow.

Now David is not asking you to configure his firewall, he is simply asking what the ports are you are using so his network admin can configure the firewall. Seems a quite straight forward question that will help everybody in this tread facing the same issue.

So please share with us what our Firewalls should allow to make the plugin work.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Hugo:

Sorry you feel this way. The Outlook App is a downloadable addition from Microsoft, this does not require any ports data.

Eric mentions above that he was able to install the App after speaking to his own Network Admin. His Network Admin made some tweaks to allow the app installation.

Since firewalls are set up by individual users and companies we are unable to provide additional assistance.
