Merge Contacts

Just wanted to say that I absolutely LOVE SmartMerge for organizations. I would love even more if the structure to merge contacts was that simple. It really is a task to go through all the duplicates as I am working with a very large database and I don't have a lot of time to go through my contact list to merge duplicates. Please HELP!!!!

@Christal You're very welcome! For those of you who missed the news, SmartMerge for leads and contacts is now available. So, now, those pesky “dupes” will no longer haunt your reports, drive up your record count or use up unnecessary storage space.

  • From this blog post https://www.insightly.com/product-news/new-insightly-features-to-prevent-and-merge-duplicates/ it seems that Smart Merge for other record types (like Contacts) will definitely follow, but Organizations is just the first record type to support the feature.

  • Hi Nikita:

SmartMerge for Contacts is not on our current road map but make sure to add your vote for it and anything else you feel is important to you. We definitely take this into account when looking into possible feature updates!

  • Definitely voting for this.  We have so many contacts that have been duplicated.  Any update on this?

  • Yes, count me in!

Wasn't there another thread for this request though? I thought I remembered someone from Insightly said this feature is in the works.

  • I certainly support this. It is very cumbersome to have to merge contacts under the current system. It would be a natural step forward to implement a smart merge reporting system  beyond simply organisations.

  • This is a great feature and thank you for implementing it.

Quick question/observation - I've noticed that after generating the list of contacts for smart merging, I am unable to open the "smartmerge" button in a new tab. Which means I need to keep going back to contacts -> smartmerge contacts over an over. Any chance this could be fixed? Or is it a browser issue?

  • All data in custom fields (on the "From"/"Source" contact) is lost when merging contacts - even if the field on the "to"/"target" field is blank/empty - please fix asap

  • I just tested the merge functionality for contacts. Made a new duplicate contact with additional information and merge the two contacts. Result: the additional information was lost.

Please have a look into it.
