Custom Field Type - Formula Field

Hi there,

Any plans of introducing Custom Field Type - Formula Field?

This will be really helpful, if there values need to be added and displayed in the formula field

For example - (Total Amount = Q1 Amount + Q2 Amount + Q3 Amount + A4 Amount)

Regards

Robert

    Hi everyone,

I'm here to announce Custom Calculated Fields. Custom calculated fields allow you to create mathematical formulas using C# (C sharp). The formulas you can create and their resulting values are based on the data entered in your records. For example:

  • Hi Robert,

Thank you for your suggestion! I can see why this would be a helpful addition. We don't have any immediate plans for this type of field but we appreciate you letting us know that this would be a great addition.

    Have a great day!

  • This is an absolute basic for CRM software, just started evaluating Insightly and can't believe it isn't available!

  • Ditto that formulas are a basic necessity.  This deficiency would be the one thing I see keeping Insightly from owning the CRM industry.  It's the one thing that keeps me from migrating all of my clients to Insightly.  Love the rest.

Yes, formula fields. And if I may add: these should not be just mathematical formulas but should also allow the combination strings (i.e. existing fields).

Like this: https://www.zoho.com/crm/help/customization/formula-field-examples.html. Or like this: https://help.salesforce.com/apex/HTViewHelpDoc?id=customize_formulas.htm&language=en

Is this on the roadmap at all?

  • This is very important for our sales team, and it would save a lot of time. I figured most CRMs had this capability, so companies don't have to rely on sales teams to do the math.

  • Hello,

I see that the custom calculated field has been implemented. However, we are not seeing this option when trying to add this field within our account.

    Please advise...

  • Hi michael.v.griffis,

Custom calculated fields are available for our customers on Enterprise plans. If you are on that plan, you should be able to follow the steps in this article to create a field.

    I hope this helps!
