Custom Field - "Could not edit this item" issue

Hello,

I have added a Custom Field for Projects with multiple options available for selection.  Initially I had it set up as a drop-down menu.  However, whenever I selected an option from the drop-down and tried to save it, a yellow banner with "Could not edit this item" appears along the top of the screen.  I tried converting the field to checkboxes with the same result - I cannot seem to edit or change anything about the custom field.  (I checked and the appropriate permissions/visibility are set up.)  Any idea what this could be?

  • I'm having the exact same issue. Have tried many different formats for custom fields to no avail.

  • Hi Melany,

    One workaround I've found is just to edit the entire page.  If you edit the page itself it will let you check the boxes and save them.  That could be a band-aid fix for now.

  • I have the same issue and while editing the entire page works, I'd still like to know why this is happening. It is much more convenient to edit the section than the entire page. And it's a feature that's offered but it's not working. Can someone at Insightly address this issue? Thanks!

  • @Amanda - We've had some bugs off and on with custom fields and we're having a hard time finding the exact cause. We just released a fix at the end of last week that was supposed to resolve this but we are still seeing issues crop up. 

    We're still investigating.

    Yes, a yellow banner appears at the top that says "could not edit this item"

    The work around described above (editing the full page) does work it just takes a little bit longer.

  • No problem.  And in case it helps, it looks like it's only an issue when the dropdown list doesn't have any data selected (so the field is blank) - when I'm editing one that already has an option selected (and just changing it to another option) it saves no problem.  Odd...
