  • If we purchase Office 365 for business (pro package), how does the integration work here? The integrations page isn't very clear on this and elsewhere in the forum it states that there is no office 2016 integration, which is what 365 now operates on. Could you please clarify?

  • Hi Kyle:

To be able to use the Outlook app you will need a combination of Outlook 2013 & Exchange 2013 (installed) OR Office 365 & a subscription to one of the Office 365 business plans (cloud).

When you subscribe to a business plan Microsoft does provide free versions of their installed programs. For new subscribers this would be the 2016 version, making the installed version of Insightly Outlook App incompatible.

So if I understand you correctly, you have a subscription to an Office 365 business plan. This means you can move forward with the Insightly Outlook App if you also have Office 365.

Hope this helps to clarify the options available!

  • Lyla,

Apologies for the redundancy, but I'm still slightly confused. My company currently uses Google Apps + Insightly, but we're contemplating moving to Office 365 and Exchange. This would force us to use Outlook 2016. Would Insightly integration work in this configuration, or does using Outlook 2016 immediately remove that compatibility?

    Thanks!

  • Not a problem Andrew!

We are not compatible with the installed versions of Outlook 2016. If you are using the cloud-based service Office 365 with a business plan subscription you should be just fine.

  • Okay, I think I get it now...if we moved to 365+Exchange+Outlook 2016, we'd only be able to utilize Insightly via the online version of Outlook?

I'm trying to get at the same thing as Andrew, in the above spec, Microsoft say you can use office 365 'in the cloud', but also that you can install on up to 5 devices per user. The installed version in their literature is still called 'Office 365', not Office 2016, which is why I am still confused.

    What we know

Insightly works with 365 online via a browser.

What we are trying to determine:

    a) is the 'installed' version of 365 called 'Office 2016'?

    b) If not, is this installed version of 365 compatible with insightly?

    c) (Potentially one for microsoft) Does a 365 licence allow you to choose the version of Office that you install locally (2013/2016/etc)?

  • Hi Andrew - You would be able to work with insightly using Office 365 as long as you also have a Office 365 Business Plan.

Hello Kyle - Office 365 is only available as a cloud version and it is different than Office 2016. And your last question would be best answered by Microsoft :)

  • Kyle,

I just ran into an issue with a Mac trying to install office with a 365 license. It wouldn't install the latest version because the Mac was not updated to the latest version of OS X yet, we are waiting for our phone system to catch up to it. Office 365 gave me the option to install an older version for free on this computer.

    Hope that helps!

  • I have quotient and have integrated this with Insightly, it works really well apart from the name of the Company is not being intetgrated into Insightly. For example if I set up the following contact in Quotient: Name is Sheri. Email is sheri@workinghard.co.nz. Company is Working Hard Ltd. When this gets integrated into Insightly the name of the company always defaults to: Workinghard.co (which is part of the domain name of the business). Can this be fixed?

  • Hi Sales Team:

You can add an email domain to an Organization record. When you do this the system will see the email domain and link to your Organization.

  • Please accept my apologies for not being clear in my previous email. Thank you I do understand how to 'fix' this when i go into Insightly. However what I would like to know is if the problem with the integration can be fixed?

  • Thank you for the clarification Sales Team, for this you would need to work with Quotient's support team to see how they are sending the data into Insightly to be mapped.

  • Do you know of any integrations you work with for Customer Success Management software more specifically to track customer health scores, etc.? It seems the majority I am researching only integrate with Sales Force. Any recommendations would be helpful!

  • Hi there, can you tell me how to integrate notes attached to Outlook contacts into Insightly? I've imported the contacts but also need the notes for each contact in Outlook.

    Thanks!

  • Hello Ellie,

When moving data into your Insightly Account you'll want to prepare your file to import these notes into Insightly. See our file templates. In a sense, you'll want to first export your Outlook Contacts and the Notes and create a file to import into Insightly. Each row in your file must represent a single note. The Note Date field can contain a past date, but if you don't assign a date, we'll just add the current day. The best format for note dates is DD-MMM-YYYY (e.g., 24-MAR-2011).

For each contact note, both the first name and last name of the contact must match exactly. Secondly, one of the following must match:

    • An organization linked to the Insightly contact matches the organization name in your file
    • The phone number
    • The email address

    Hopefully that helps!
