Linking Pipeline Tasks to Organisations and Contacts

Hi,

We have created multiple pipelines for our opportunities and projects. This is great as it allows us to quickly create bulk tasks however we have noticed that when creating an opportunity or project there is no option to link the pipeline to an organisation or contact. The opportunity or project can be linked to an organisation or contact however the tasks associated to the pipeline will not appear in the organisation or contact's 'tasks' tab.

On further review I found that it is possible to go into each individual task in the pipeline and link each task with an organisation or contact however with so many tasks in each pipeline this can become very time consuming.

This may be more of a feature request however if there is already a way of linking a pipeline of tasks to an organisation or contact I would appreciate if someone could assist me.

Thanks!

  • Hi Dylan:

There isn't a way to have the Activity Set Tasks in a Pipeline link to to the Organization or Contact automatically. Thanks for adding this as a feature request, perhaps other users can comment on how they've worked around this.

  • Thanks Lyla,

I thought this may have been the case it's not a big issue, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious.

    Thanks for your assistance.

  • Hi, is there an update on whether / when this feature may get implemented?

  • I hope this gets implemented. Going to individiual tasks in an activity set and linking them to the same contact is very time consuming :)

  • This is extremely important to us. We have a newly created Pipeline that we wanted to use to set up a service for new Organizations. The Pipeline has 5 stages with Activity Sets within each one, for a total of more than a dozen Tasks. This Pipeline was going to be used for managing 150-200 new Organizations that we'll be adding in the next month. However, without the ability to see which Organization the Task is connected to, the one responsible for the Task will have to click through to the Project for every single task to know which Org they're supposed to be working on.

We love the highlighting on the Task list showing which ones are part of a Pipeline (S1, S2, etc.). it helps the user know how many at each stage there are, which can create efficiencies when tackling each stage. And they can also identify if there is something in their Task list that could be holding up others.

But without the ability to know which Org's they apply to, they will have dozens of identical tasks with no way to differentiate them.

Am I missing something simple? Or has anyone discovered a way around this?

  • Hi Erik, nope, I don't think you're missing anything. In the task list, it will show the Opportunity (or Project) that task is linked to (via the pipeline), but it will not show the organisation that the Opportunity (or Project) is linked to.

You could manually link the organization to each task. Not a good solution.

Or you could include the organization name in the Opportunity (or Project) name. Simple, but effective.

  • Thanks Peter. We're using the Project name as a work-a-round for now. But we're learning that the hierarchical functionality isn't as robust as we'd like it to be.

  • Hi! Just commenting that this needs to be a feature, so as to make it easier for different sales reps be able to see the activity we've had in the past with a particular organization or contact without having to go through the opportunity.

  • Hi, We are also finding it frustrating that we have to add the organisation to each task manually. Is there any update on when this feature might be added?

  • Hi there,

I have come across this thread from a few years ago and wanted to see if there has been any updates to it.

I want to know if you can add a pipeline to a contact and or an organization?

    Thanks!

  • Hello Ian,

The ability to add a pipeline to a Contact or Organization is not available. This is currently not on our roadmap for the foreseeable future.

Let me know if you have further questions.
