Manual Override for Contact Data?

It seems like there are a number of critical data points for contacts that can only be added via some kind of automation or scraping.  Specifically, I see no way of manually overriding a contact's profile pic, or of manually adding social accounts other than LinkedIn and Twitter.  The reality for me is that often my contacts use random images for their profile pic leaving me with no easy way to put a face to a name when at a business function.  In most cases I could easily find a good headshot of them on the web but have no way of using it as their profile pic in Insightly.  Similar problem with social accounts.  In many cases my contacts use a separate, private email account for their social accounts, making them invisible to the data-scrape approach.  In most cases I have the info, so is there any way that I can just "Add YouTube", paste a link to their YouTube channel page and just be done with it?  Relying on the scrape is leaving me with some huge holes in their bio.

  • Hi Matthew,

    Thanks for reaching out!

    1. To change the profile image for a Contact record, select the record > select the 'Actions' dropdown menu > select 'Change Contact Image' > upload the new image & save.

    2. To manually add other social media sites to your Contact and Organization records, you can place full URL's for those sites in either the 'Website' or 'Background' field. This will create a live link that you can click on to jump to their profiles directly.

I hope that helps! Let us know if you have other questions :)

  • Katy, I am using the "website" field to put in other social profiles like Facebook but this is a sloppy workaround. Other CRMs allow you to manually input many different social media platforms, and I really want to see this made available in Insightly as well.

  • Thank you for your feedback on the the need for additional social profiles, James. Hearing user's preferences helps us with planning for possible improvements!

  • Katy, when you manually change the Contact Image by linking it to a specific picture, will this change be "permanent"? If the system picks up a new picture on a Social media site, could this change the manually entered picture at a later stage?

  • Hi Ola,

Yes, your manually added profile photo will override anything that was automatically found and remain as the permanent profile photo.
