Number Formats in Advanced Reporting (dollar signs, commas, etc.)

I would like to be able to specify how a number value looks on the screen. I want to make a dollar value include $ and commas.

  • If you are referring to creating a new custom field, we currently do not have a currency field type. So an option would be to have a custom field for the value and then a custom field for the currency type.

Dollar values are numeric fields, so you would only enter the number in the field itself. However when you view the record details or run reports you should see the value as the dollar amount with the appropriate commas.

    I hope that helps!

  • Hi Erin,

I should clarify - we would like to see number formatting in advanced reporting. All dollar values show up without formatting, for example 547790.00 instead of $547,790.00, which is much more difficult to read.

  • And more than just in Reports throughout the whole CRM you really need a currency field type.

I hope I'm not the only one confused by how a sales driven CRM does not have "Currency" as a field type when creating a custom field?

  • Hi All,

Unfortunately, at this time the only work around it is to export. We will definitely take these comments into consideration for the future.

  • Any progress on the currency field type across the CRM?  It is very confusing without it.

  • commas, at a minimum break up 12345678 into 12,345,678 would make a material difference - is that a huge ask? To accurately/quickly read custom opportunity/project fields for deal specifics, particularly on a mobile phone, we are considering reverting to Text format which renders the internal reporting useless, but functions in CSV export?

  • Please, this is a simple readability ask.  Very important for executives who want to know where the dollar sign and commas are.

  • Need currency option for custom fields. Basic CRM functionality that is missing.

  • I use advanced reporting to run monthly and weekly sales reports for my real estate team. I have specific values that I track (I.e. monthly rent, total commission, agent commission, fee percentage).

What is great is that I can sum these numbers and create a monthly report to keep my sales team in the loop and motivated to hit our target. In this case, it would be great to have the ability to add dollar signs and commas to make the data more presentable. Does anyone know of any workarounds for the time being? Even if it involved using a third party program that reads the data from the report and redistributes it somehow. Thanks!!

  • Hey Nicholas,

At this time, the reports feature cannot have non numeric characters added to them. This has been looked into as a feature request.

In the mean time, the sales dashboards provided in our recent rollout may have some data you can use and present it with the aforementioned commas and dollar signs. Give it a shot!

  • Yup! I am bumping this! I was just asked by management to add dollar amounts to records. We need the ability to generate custom fields to indicate currency / dollar amounts. Please!

eta: For the time being I created a custom field - text to add the information. ;)

  • I'm new to Insightly, and this is a pretty big miss. It is also surprising it has been an open item for 4 years. The ability to have a custom field that is currency seems obvious.
