Insightly Mobile App - Google Drive

We cannot see files stored on Google Drive in the mobile app for I-Phone when they are linked to projects.  If files are attached to a project, we see and open them without issue.

Can you enable that feature or provide us with a workaround.

Thanks,

Rob

  • Hi Rob:

Viewing a file linked through another service such as Google Drive or Dropbox isn't a feature that can be enabled in the Mobile App. The only way to view a file is to attach it directly to the record in Insightly. Thank you for adding this to the Community for other users to comment and vote on as a possible addition in the future.

  • I agree.  This feature is important to us as a lot of our information is stored in Google Drive.

  • I totally agree. This feature is an important feature for all of us since a lot of the SMEs are on the roads nearly every day.

  • +1 - this is a necessity for those of us who rely exclusively on Google Apps.  What is the point of being able to link a Google Drive file, or DropBox file, if the link doesn't work through the Insightly web app??  Insightly is supposed to be easy and work seamlessly with Google Drive?  Not the case if I have to convert and download my files, and then link as a file in a different format...  :(

  • Hi, we are in final stages of testing this feature. You will see support of Google Drive and other hosted files in our next mobile apps release (version 3.15). Thank you for your patience!

  • Hello Cory,

Can you clarify the exact issue you are having in regards to the Insightly mobile app?

  • There is no Ability to view previously linked google docs or sheets in the mobile app. They just dont show when looking at organization or contact profiles. Adding drive docs to a profile from Insightly's app results in a pdf being uploaded, not a link to the live google doc.

In addition (not related to google drive) there is no Ability to rename pictures when attaching them in the app. Nor can i edit names after attaching. Im left with generic, system generated file names that i then have to wade through later. Opening one after another until i get to the right one. I just tried it in zoho's app, no problem renaming when taking a pic to attach to profile.. had to make sure it wasn't a crazy expectation :)

All of this works splendid on the website, but accessing the website from mobile phone is cumbersome (hard to read or navigate & clunky) and I am never in an office :/

  • Hello Cory,

Thanks for the clarification and feedback!

Insightly's browser-based application had quite a head-start on our iOS and Android apps and this is why you won't find all of the features from the website on your phone or tablet. Our mobile team is working hard to change that, and you'll see new features added regularly and updated.

You can always and I encourage to provide your feedback in our ideas & Suggestions page. Here users can vote and comment on your ideas as well to help our Engineering review them and asses them.

Thanks for your time and understanding.
