Please let us add images to email templates

It would be so good to be able to add images in the body of an email template - in today's visual world all my sales emails are visual with eye catching images in the body - I had hoped to switch to using insightly to link with leads but can't because of this - it is surprising in today's visual world that this fairly simple requirement isn't possible. After all you can add an image to your email signature so why can't you also just add the html button to be able to do the same in the email body? Does anyone else feel the same?

  • Hi Sarah,

Thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback. At this time you can add an image as an attachment and as you mentioned within the signature; however it's not our roadmap to have images available in the body of email templates. You may want to review a marketing platform such as Mailchimp for this feature.

  • Hi Sarah.

I agree 100%. The email design functions of Insightly are pretty weak. The suggestion of adding a link for your logo is also a little weak (sorry Nora).

I think it will help more people to move to Insightly if this functionality was brought into the 21st century. :-)

  • Thanks for your suggestion Nora however I already use mailchimp but it is no use to me to be able to follow up leads - it is illegal for me to just add leads to mailchimp without their sign up and so I need to use a platform where I can entice them first to be on my mailing list - I had thought insightly might be good for this as I could use it to link in with my leads however it seems not

  • When people register on our site there is a checkbox saying that they would like to opt into our newsletter. We then write a small amount of code that converts this check box into a Mailchimp signup. That way the lead is added to our newsletter with minimal intervention.

If you are using a known CMS then there are certainly plug-ins for them that do this. For example I know that Wordpress has such a sign up integration.

  • Sarah/Robert,

Just yesterday I went to send emails in insightly and realized you cannot add images. Like the one I just added here. It would be a great feature.

That said, I use MailChimp to do this type of emailing as it built by folks that specialize in email.

insightly is a great platform because they stay focused on what they do really well and support best practices with partners who do the same in their part of the ecosystem. They do NOT try to be everything to everyone. Most of the time this is a good thing. Imagine if the airlines actually made the food they served us. You think it's bad now? :)

This is my perception after working with them for some time. The tools built into insightly are rocket fast, efficient, get the job done. But when they cannot do what we need them to, integrations with partners like MailChimp take this platform to a new level. I'm a Hero, not an employee. I'm not compensated to say any of this. I just believe it and compared to the rest of the products I've tested, insightly does so much right, that we often assume everything will be just how we like it.

  • Hi Eric.  Thank you for your perspective.  I agree with everything you wrote.  I know there is always one more thing that we as users wanted added, upgraded or changed.  By no means am I suggesting Insightly be like MailChimp and I am not a programmer.  I would like to see the ability to add images to our emails without having to add links and I hope someday they  will add it.

I love this program too.  I've tested way too many and for the price range, Insightly is incredible.

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts.  It did make a difference.

  • This is almost a deal killer for us.  Sadly - this interface in support comments is massively more sophisticated than the email function in inisghtly. Currently my team won't use the email feature because of the lack of formatting and I'm certain our email conversions are less than they could be.

    Please make this a priority.

  • It was a deal killer for us.  We had to kill Insightly for a few reasons, but this was the main reason that we could not live without.  Too bad.

  • Agree totally. This needs to be added. We should not have to use another product - this is basic functionality and if you can do it in an email signature you can do it in the body.

  • Please add this feature so I can hyperlink an image/video thumbnail to my wistia and JiveSystems video for sales hosting accounts. Video for sales is here, now and any modern crm should have ability to put hyperlinked images in email templates.

  • Super need this feature! Adding the HTML code in the signature only allows the photo be viewed before it is sent. After the email is sent, it arrives to its recipient as an X. We love the functions of Insightly, and are in the "Let's Try It To See If We Like It" phase. This may be a deal breaker for us.

  • Agreed, We are probably going to have to switch CRM's because not having the ability to add images

  • Image hyperlinks are basic HTML and there's no reason it shouldn't be included with Insightly's email services. A simple image hyperlink would allow our customers to easily be linked to places where they can leave us reviews--and text hyperlinks are quite an eyesore.

  • I can insert an image here but you won't let me on an email template?  Making an email professional looking adds to our brand image.  PLEASE!!!!!

  • I agree - the ability to embed an image into an email is absolutely necessary.  In this day and age of a gazillion and fifty email spammers and scammers, sending an email to someone with an attachment instead of an embedded image is far more likely to have one's email sent to trash with the recipient not even considering opening the attachment.

  • I see that within Insightly, you use the Redactor editor (which our SaaS product also uses). Redactor has built in handling for images that can be stored on AWS or a similar service. It is quite debilitating to not give us the ability to include images in our emails, and since you use and editor that has built in capabilities for uploading and inserting images, there really is no excuse for not enabling it.

At least give us the ability to edit the html, so we could insert links to external images ourselves.

If you have access to another web editor that allows you to insert an image, you can do so, then copy that block into the email message in Insightly. As long as the image you uploaded into the other editor is publicly available, it should appear in your Insightly email.

  • Hello Thomas,

As a workaround, you can use the HTML editor for your custom email signature, you can insert an HTML tag and URL to display a picture at the bottom of your emails. To accomplish this you'll need to save your file on an image hosting service or your own server and make it publicly accessible. You cannot upload an image directly to Insightly.
