Completed Tasks

For some reason all of my Completed Tasks are now showing up above with my current tasks.  They used to be moved to the bottom so not to interfere with current tasks.  Can anyone advise how I can get them to move to the bottom without deleting them?

  • We are having that issue as well. I'm hoping it's just a temporary glitch. In the meantime you can just filter by open tasks.

  • I'm having the same problem and it's awful. Also, I have some past due tasks, and it used to be that I could put in the date, and get to just that day's past due tasks. Now it won't do that. This is a huge waste of my time scrolling through all kinds of things that I shouldn't have to.

  • Hi Lee and Jessica,

Completed Tasks being moved to the bottom was actually a site performance issue that has been fixed. The Tasks should remain where they are currently located with a line going through them as Completed.

    I apologize for the confusion.

  • Nora, what about my issue. I'm trying to look up past due tasks from Jun 7, and it brings up all kinds of dates that have nothing to do with Jun 7.

  • If I go to an individual person's takes, it still shows all of the completed tasks about the open tasks, even though my setting is set for just open tasks.

  • This is still an issue.  Not resolved for my accounts.

I also need to be able to export all completed tasks.  It is not allowing me to due this.  I have a few thousand completed tasks, and when I export I only get 200 to 300 causing major issues on my end.

  • This is still an issue with us as well. How can we (or you) relocate them? My staff and I uses tasks very heavily and having them in our way (still on the screen) is really slowing us down! It was GREAT having them automatically filter to the bottom of the screen when marked complete.

    Please address this ASAP!

    Thank you!

  • The issue of now showing all our completed tasks within our open tasks is also causing us major issues, as we rely heavily on using tasks to set workload. It is currently very difficult to see open tasks as they are hidden within tasks that are ticked. Please resolve the issue asap.

I find this ridiculous because it sounds like all of us liked this 'glitch.' Is there anyway that we can put it back, because I hate sifting through all of my completed tasks. I have unfinished tasks mixed in with the completed tasks because I can't re-order them.

Can someone in Insightly please help?!

  • This is absurd. I have people that I have hundreds of completed tasks for. Why should I have to scroll through those to see the open tasks? It was the other way for years! Are you sure you're correct about this? I'm really unhappy with this and also the other issue I reported (copied and pasted below).

I'm trying to look up past due tasks from Jun 7, and it brings up all kinds of dates that have nothing to do with Jun 7.

I abbreviated June as Jun, as that's how you show it.

  • I like the change - this gives me the whole history of each of my clients tasks. Easy fixed on the sorting - I just set the due date on the completed tasks to 12/31/2025 - this gets them sorted down at the bottom away from my active tasks.

Yea. . .but who wants to go back and change the due date on thousands of tasks plus that effects reports and still doesn't address the exporting issue.

  • You must not have many completed tasks to make that suggestion.

I don't need to see the history of tasks most of the time, so to get right to what I need to do is what I want, and what Insightly has always given me.

It's much easier to scroll down past tasks to do, in order to get to completed tasks, versus the other way.

  • Lots of completed tasks but I have them all coded as completed. Just filter and do a global change on the due date. This works for me since I don't really care when something was completed so not a problem if I have 'fake' due dates

  • I've been told by Insightly that you can't do a global change for a due date. I also see no way to filter tasks for an individual contact. Just for tasks on the tasks page. It's just awful to not have phone or chat support for paying customers. If it was this way when we started with Insightly, we would have picked another CRM.

  • I agree - they need phone support for paying customers.

  • Not global change but bulk change is possible. Just filter out the ones you want to change, check them and do a change due date.

  • Hi All,

I apologize for the delay in responding. Our team has been working hard trying to verify what went wrong with Tasks. We hope to have an update soon regarding this.

@Ken Levinson- The ability to search by a specific date is another site performance issue we just noticed. At this time the workaround is to search by month.

The Tasks that have not been completed will be dropping off from the lists where they currently appear with Open once the bug is fixed.

@Anthony- You will need to click on MORE at the bottom to view all your Tasks before exporting. At this time you can only export what is viewed on the screen.

  • Oh Great.  So since I have 3000 completed tasks, and the list is sorted backwards - I'll just click it 60 times. If you happen to call this morning that is what I'll be doing all day.

  • Nora, I figured out the searching by month, but hopefully they'll get it back to how it was before soon.

It's amazing to me that more Insightly users aren't on here complaining about what's going on, as it's really bad.

  • This was still a pain for us yesterday so we found an acceptable alternative option until this is resolved. This may not work for everyone but what we have done for our tasks list is add either the filter "My Open Tasks" or "All Open Tasks" to remove the completes from our screens. Now I like to see the completes and occasionally go back to them as well but in the meantime this is helping us.

Hope this helps some of you.

  • Completely agree with those who say removing completed tasks is the better option. I've been using Insightly for over a year, and this "glitch" has been there that long. I manage 3 other peoples' task lists, and to have them include all the completed tasks is horrible. Please bring back the functionality that removes all the completed tasks. That was a better option.

Here's a screenshot for reference of what I'm experiencing. Usually those completed tasks would move to the bottom of the list at the end of each day and go away completely at the end of each week.

The problem with this suggestion, for me, is that we use tasks to track all our activity, so the dates are actually very important to us. For example, We will create a task each time we make a phone call, and then complete it, to show that a phone call was made on a certain date. This allows us to easily see the history for a given opportunity-- completed tasks show what has been done and when, and open tasks show what needs to be done and when.

Thank you for working hard to get this fixed and for keeping us all updated. Much appreciated!

  • I wanted to chime in here.  I am frustrated as I too have numerous completed tasks and don't want to see them up top in the Overdue Tasks section, nor do I want to have to filter them out for each client, etc.  The whole point of having an Overdue Task section is to highlight what has still not yet been done - not bury them in between a mountain of completed tasks.  That defeats the whole purpose.  If some people like having all of their completed tasks mixed in with their overdue tasks then perhaps Insightly can make an option for that.  But most people, it would seem, would want their completed tasks moved to the bottom so that they can easily see and focus in on their past due tasks and the upcoming tasks without getting lost in all the non-pertinent information.  Please provide a fix to this as soon as possible.  This is very frustrating.

  • Hi All,

I don't have any updates on this yet, unfortunately, as the engineers are still looking into it. I’ll definitely update this thread as soon as we have more information, so stay tuned!

  • I'm having the same issue.  Completed tasks are showing overdue.  Just on one client, I had to scroll through almost 500 tasks to get to the current tasks.
