API calls to create contact fail

Several months ago, I created a landing page Python script based on your GitHub insightly-python project. Recently, the API call to create a contact started failing with

urllib2.HTTPError: HTTP Error 400: Bad Request

No changes in my code at all. The program successfully creates the organization but gets an error when it tries to create the contact.

  • Hi Art,

We were in touch via our support ticket system but just wanted to reply on the thread as well in case anyone else runs into the issue.

This was due to spaces in tags no longer being supported. We recently went through some core backend changes that requires us to enforce the no space rule. All existing tags that have spaces and are included as part of an object in our database will continue to work throughout consecutive PUT operations as long as you don't change the tag. If you would like to migrate all your existing tags with spaces to tags with underscore, we're happy to assist you in the process.

We strive to keep our developer community up to date with any changes to our API so we apologize if this information did not reach you in a timely manner. If you have not already, please sign up for our developer email list at: https://www.insightly.com/crm-developer-api/

    Best Regards,
