Shared files

There is no possibility to set up files added to a project as private.

That's why I cannot shere some projects with my workers because I do not want them to have access e.g. to financial data - or contracts I have signed with my clients

Tere is such a funkcionality in tasks and notes - please add it ASAP to files :)

Thanks !

Sebastian

  • Put them into another place then into a CRM and use privacy functionalities there. Google Drive for example. It's even easier to work there and share with people who have no access to your CRM.

  • Why not to add the same funktionality to files - like to tasks or notes ?

I will be able in new Insightly to do it with all issues - except of files.

It does not make a sense ...

    PS

    Take a look

I have one file to work on client's issues - my worker is doing sth within it.

I have a copy of this files - when I exchange opinions with my client.

Access to this files is via link.

When I make a project accessible to my worker she will see both files - what for?

Second - I have some financial issues with Client - why my worker should see it?

I know how GoogleDrive works but ... not every Client has an Google Account OR wants to log into it.

CRM must be userfriendly - now - because of files' issue - it is not

  • Hi.

I miss "View" options - please take into account that - as stated before - sometimes I do not want to let my workers see issueas related with the project - task, note or ... file

Are yoo going to add such a functionaliy? I will be very easy to implement and thus will create a bunch of new possibilities in the area of sharing :)

  • We have the same issue - the point is to be able to share information across the company and not have to duplicate entries to restrict access to sensitive information.  If I have to create a separate record for the organization/contact (because they are linked) so that I can attach files with sensitive information to that organization, then I am wasting time.  I don't want to change the permission on the entire record or even on ALL of the files.  I only need permissions on SOME Files. Is it possible create a new tab between files and tasks labeled controlled files or similar? Then add the feature of restricting access to only this part of the record? Thanks.

  • Any updates on making it so only some files are set to private?  In SharePoint you can create permissions for specific files. It would be nice if you could add this feature.

  • I second this. Before the interface change, we would be able to attach files to notes and set the viewing permissions on the note, but now you can't attach files to notes.  The solution would be to have the same viewing permissions options on 'files' that 'notes' have.

  • Yes I agree. We want to be able to share the contact and other information but would like to keep some files private. It seems we can no longer upload a note and attach a file there and the file option has no privacy option to it.

  • Actually, we just figured out a way around this...add a note then mark the note with the people you want to be able to have access. Then save it, go back in to edit the note then click add a comment and there it gives you the option to attach a file.

  • Lisa, that's great that you've found a workaround! Too bad you have to dig through the project, then related tab, then the note, then comment, then edit the comment to finally see the file. Seems like a lot of drilling down for something that should be pretty easily accessible.

  • Yes it could be much easier by simply adding the same options that we have in the notes section to file section!

  • Agreed. That's all it would take. You listening Insightly?
