More flexibility to link emails

When linking emails to accounts in the office app, the system only will either add it to a contact with the matching email or create a new email. There is no flexibility to choose where you want the email to go. For example, if I have a prospect and I only have their work email but they send me something from their personal email, the system will only have the option to create a new contact.  Or if someone sends me an email related to another organization or contact and I want to link it to that organization or contact, there is no way to do that. There should be a way to have the system prompt you to choose which contact or organization you want to link to.

Hi, closing the loop that ability to link an Email to a specific record in Insightly has been shipped with the latest version of the Insightly Sidebar for Outlook.

This article describes how this feature works: https://support.insight.ly/hc/en-us/articles/115011061627-How-to-save-emails-with-the-Sidebar-in-Outlook

  • Hi Lisa -

If I understood you correctly, you are referring to a limitation in our Insightly Outlook Add-On. We are planning to add this functionality to the Outlook Addon in 2017, since we already offer in our Sidebar for Gmail. The feature is called "Save and Link" and allows for complete flexibility to select items you'd like to link to. Thank you for your patience as we work on this improvement.

  • Add the option to save and link to a specific task rather just the general project.

Also a new suggestion (not sure where to put this or if it has bee requested) when viewing the organisation page add 2 new tabs called projects and opportunities.  One more thing can we please have the option to archive a completed project

  • I've just moved to Outlook from Gmail and use the add-on.  I am finding the lack of being able to link emails to specific projects and opportunities a pain. Pleased to see that it is in the pipeline to be done.  The Google/Gmail add-on is really good but the Outlook Add-on is currently lacking.  Looking forward to the upgrade.
