Duplicate Recurring Tasks

Hi there,

I'm getting a lot of duplicate tasks from a single recurring task.  Here's the scenario.

  • I work on an overdue daily recurring task, let's say 3 days past due
  • I finish the task (late) and mark the checkbox complete
  • It immediately creates not only the next day's task, but creates multiple copies of the same task, all with that same day as the due date
  • If I look in my project activity, I now see multiple copies of the recurring task
  • The next day, I go ahead and mark all of them complete to get rid of them, they ALL create their next day's task, thus perpetuating the multiple instances

Is this a bug, or something that I'm doing?  It seems to me that if I am overdue on a task, then end up finishing it late, it would only create the next day's task, not all the in-between tasks, which repeat as well.

  • This is also happening to me as well.  This task should show up once a week but every week it duplicates and now I have 27 of the same task showing up on my list.  Can you please let me know how this can be fixed.

    As of today, I still don't have a resolution.  A couple of people have been trying diligently from the Insightly side, but haven't been able to replicate the issue.  If you come across anything that solves it, please let me know!

  • @Robert Loftis - We too have been experiencing this issue. In our case it happens with reoccurring Tasks, we mark it complete and it then creates multiple (2 to 6 duplicates) of the next Task. I first reported it to Support about a month ago, was told same as you that Engineering was working on it, last week I was told they resolved it but the problem remains ongoing.

    I see you are working with my fellow colleague on this. Keep an eye out for an email from her to help provide further information. 

    As well keep in mind the solution Insightly provided for this issue is not retroactive. This means you'll still possibly see duplicates for older Tasks. Moving forward you should not see duplicate Tasks for newly added ones.

  • Yes Alejando, I have an open support ticket that is now over a month old without resolution, and am dismayed to see I am not alone in having this problem. Besides the OP Robert and Angie here, I now see other discussion posts, so I suspect this is a much larger issue.

    I do not like what I am hearing about this not being a retroactive fix. This is already disruptive to our business as we depend on Insightly Reoccurring Tasks to manage all of our client deliverables. It's bad enough we have to clean up another Insightly bug by deleting these duplicates, but if you (and Leslie) are saying that previously existing reoccurring tasks, that were working fine before, will have to be deleted and recreated, then this is not an acceptable solution.
