Issue with sending emails from Gmail (Chrome)

We have two team members (so far) that are having an issue sending emails in Gmail (screenshot below). After testing, we discovered that disabling the Insightly Chrome extension fixed the problem.

One of the team members noticed a note by your support team that it may also be related to Boomerang and Insightly clashing. Is a solution being worked on to make these compatible? We use both on a daily basis.

  • Hello Toni,

    Thanks for providing that screenshot!

I'm glad you found the solution to this issue. I've passed along the information to our engineering team. At this time I do not have a timeframe for a solution in regards to Boomerang. This seems to be on Gmail's end. If I hear back with any helpful information I'll make sure to communicate that.

  • Hi I have the same issue.  I have to disable my insightly chrome extension to get gmail working again

and according to google forums the issue is some conflict in the sending of emails (happens with salesforce extension too)

any news from Insightly end on this ?  if i can't connect within gmail to insightly then 80% of its value compared to cheaper CRMs has gone

    thanks Rikki

  • Hello Rikki,

This is due to when using the Insightly Sidebar for Gmail when using it in the new Gmail interface. As a company, it has been decided to focus all development efforts on our Insightly Gmail add-on as this uses Gmail's latest version of their API. The previous API version will be discontinued eventually.

We recommend installing the new Insightly Add-on for Gmail.

And, you'll also want to double check the Insightly Sidebar for Gmail is completely uninstalled. Here are the steps:

    1. Remove the Insightly Sidebar by opening a Chrome window > three-dot icon > Settings > three dot icon menu > Extensions
    2. Locate Insightly and click to "Remove"

    Hope that helps!

  • Hello Mark,

I apologize for experiencing this issue!

The Insightly Sidebar is no longer compatible with Gmails new interface. Because of this as a company, we're focusing all development efforts on our Insightly Gmail Add-on since it uses the current version of Gmail's API. Eventually, the previous API version will be discontinued. And as a result, the Insightly Sidebar will be removed on 12/31/2018.

Because we are discontinuing the Sidebar at the end of the year, we will no longer review any issues with the Sidebar. However, don't worry, you still have options for saving your emails to Insightly. We recommend installing the new Insightly Add-on for Gmail.

You can find an overview of the Add-on here: The Insightly Add-on for Gmail

There is always the option to use your Insightly mailbox address to save emails too.

I hope that gives you some options.
