API v3.1 date created changes month and day when updating object

Hi there, I'm using the latest API version 3.1 to update certain attributes in my objects (Leads, Contacts and Organisations).

Sometimes, when I update, the creation date 'DATE_CREATED_UTC' of the object switches the month and the day.

So before it might have been

"DATE_CREATED_UTC": "2019-05-01 09:37:58",

and after I update, it becomes

"DATE_CREATED_UTC": "2019-01-05 09:37:58",

(check the switch of month and day)

I wasn't able to reproduce when this happens. I already tested adding and removing the DATE_CREATED_UTC attribute when sending the updated information via API.

If it happens, I can fix the data by sending another update request just to change the updated data:

By sending

{
"LEAD_ID": 41898229,
"DATE_CREATED_UTC": "2019-05-01 09:37:58",
}

, I revert the day-month switch.

Did anyone else experience this issue?

  • Hello Jonathan,

    Thanks for bringing this up and we will do our best to help support you on this. I've gone ahead and looped in our API Expert my fellow colleague who might be able to provide some helpful information. Please hang time as he works to craft up a response to you.

    Thanks for your time and patience.

  • Hi Jonathan,

    That is interesting and we have not had any other cases where the DATE_CREATED_UTC field is reversing values. I've tested this in our test instance and was unable to replicate with a basic POST or PUT request.

    If this occurs again, please let us know and we will begin further testing.

  • Hi Alex,

    Thanks for your reply. Today it happened again. I also have difficulties to reproduce since it only happens occasionally. I've updated Lead objects and it turned my DATE_CREATED_UTC from 2019-05-08 to 2019-08-05. Is there a way, we can chat directly so I can send you more detailed information.

    Best,

    Jonathan

  • Guys, is it possible to talk to someone? The problem still exists and is really causing me very big problems since day and month of my date fields are constantly being switched.

  • Hi Jonathan,

    Can you confirm the standard date format you have in your User Details account? The switch may be occurring if the account format is changing from UTC to another format such as dd-mm-yyyy or mm-dd-yyyy.

    I hope this helps. Please let us know if it does not.

  • Hi Alex,

    unfortunately, it doesn't make any difference what date format I choose. Here are 3 screenshots: 2 are of my postman PUT request. You can see how the month and the day changes. The third screenshot are the settings of my date format.

    This date change doesn't only happen on the DATE_CREATED_UTC field but on any date entry that is already stored in the object that I update.

    I currently hotfix this bug by sending 2 update PUT requests (the first update call will switch month and day and the second call will switch them back).....

    I hope you guys can help me out. Thanks!

    Jonathan

  • Hey guys,

    Did you make any progress on this issue? The continuous switch of dates is making it very difficult to work with our data. Any help or suggestion would be highly appreciated.
